Newbie to the site, Looking for help with a Forester

    First off, wanna say hi. lol. Been looking through here for some info for a while, but just now posting. First off, I won 3 Subie's now. 04 Legacy, 94 Impreza, and 98 Forester. And sadly, I am having issues with the Forester.

    Ok, the trans is shot in the Forester, and I want to just five speed swap it and be done. However, the only swaps I am finding have been done with newer WRX parts. I dont have access to those parts, but I do have access to a complete 96 Impreza Outback. And I want to use all the parts from that if I can. But i cant find any real info on it.

    Any help would be great.

    It should almost be the same swap as an impreza.

    But is the '96 ob cable clutch?

    How many miles on the Forester?
    Have you had the head gaskets done yet?

    The headgaskets were done by previous owner thankfully. And it has 207,000 miles on it. Compression test was good. If I remember the Outback was hydraulic clutch. I'm going back to look at it again shortly.

    I did post on SubaruForester.org but no one has even replied yet.
