Hey everyone Today, the NF guys made it out to Rockfalls Raceway to test our project, the Speeding Bullet. On Thursday around 10am, the stock 6 speed transmission decided to commit murder and took out it's 4th gear. But the race is on Saturday. What should we do? Thankfully NF's Roger has his transmission laying around. We decided to install it on Friday night. Finishing up the job by 3am on Saturday, only to get ready and head out to Rockfalls in a few hours. Tired and drained out, we made it out to the event. With Chong (Musashi) getting everything handled, and the help of Derek (ofspunk7), Felipe (4drcivicmaster) Roger, Ko (kvang), Nhia (asiandude), Ryan (wrc10), Matt (Moleness), John (istoptofly) and Kong (kongzilla), Fuji was able to drive the car and hit 10's. Here are the time slips (Speeding Bullet = 123) Our best time, 10.636 @ 133.84 mph And here's the video of the last run And a final picture of the guys who all help make it happen We would like to thank everyone for showing up and helping out.
That was actually a lot funner then I thought going into this. Glad everyone was willing to listen and follow thru. Now the queston is"where's the beef?"
FINALLY.....Dream comes true!!!...Well deserved Fuji, Nuke and the NF crew plus the support!!!!! So... the 04-05 STi gears can still get you into the 10's just like the Rallispec, PPGs and 07+ STi gears. (shifting to 5th) Just curious, if you guys don't mind sharing, what changed on the setup of this car to make it happen? (apart from the cool 60 degree weather) Nonetheless... a toast to you guys!!
^^Rollcage and a chute?.... I thought if the car is street class, how did you guys manage to do more than one 10 second pass without being kicked off?
I had a good time, too. Here's a little contribution of mine. This one wasn't the fastest run of the day but it was still impressive! I'm not the greatest cameraman, but anyways here's a couple of scoobies running together. This vid was just for fun, but it shows what the day was like for the NF team.
I'd like to thank everyone for coming out and supporting us. If I forgot to mention you, don't get mad. Just bug the heck out of me to mention you or something LOL It was nice to see RS Motors, Fobia and Bee, Dipp, AdrenalinRush and bikerboy out there. And it felt great to see Fong (kickin_81) out there. Just like the ol' days. And Pheng, you're not forgotten. Lowrider: What's changed from the last time? Team work Subaru Powah!
Much thanks to the support and props from everyone! It was great to see the OG's out there! Awesome day for the Subarus!
This has been one heck of a journey for the NF Team, the hunt for the woolly mammoth 10 second pursuit in the Subaru. To hunt for such a beast you must have a coordinated team effort and an experienced eye. Achieving the 10.63 second could not of been done alone by a single team member, surely some would think it came down to the driver as he's the one behind the wheel, but in actuality who's are those standing behind him putting it together so he could focus on his driving. We struggled to break into the 10's all morning with overcasting clouds and cold track temps. Once we got down into 11.00 the decision was made to go back to the NT05 235's from the Hoosier R6's. I started coordinating the team in the morning having Roger maintain the tire pressures after each run, Dereck checking the lug nut torques, Susan making notes of each run, John-we borrowed his shiny lug nuts, Kao - handyman Mechanic and a few others. After switching back to the NT05 I dialed in the tire pressures myself after reviewing the times from our first two runs in the morning. 20psi Rear and 23psi Front and Nuke made a minor change with the fuel. Fuji pulled a 10.88 on his first run after switching tires. Then the top radiator hose started spilling water after staging for our second pass. Some were ready to quit as the car was rushed back out of the staging lane. But I saw this was their moment and suggested they get a loaner hose and continue, after a discussion with the team leaders it was agreed to move forward. I had been walking the stretch to the right side lane and studying each launch. After switching out the hose I asked Roger to drop two psi from the tires and we were able to make it just in time for a last time trail pass. Laying down another 10.86. After each pass I would talk with the driver and get the exact details of what went on in that session asking very specific question about launch, feel and driving and more. By now the time trails had ended, it was time for business. I saw another -xx.2 in the car so I asked that we participate in the elimination and I started working with the driver, did a little coaching. I asked Fuji to easy off into 2nd gear and reduce the forward lunging motion caused by the flat foot shifting. And like they say the rest is history, putting down a 10.63 sec pass in the books. All that's left is a great set of tires, I could see NF Team achieving a 10.2 second pass with the right compound and size. I think it's time to start looking for some sponsors. So you see there's a process and a cycle in achieving these goals after all and no it does not just come down to one person but rather one functional team.
Nice work! Fong thanks for calling out the times at the end of the vids. I hate when you cant see/hear the times.
I'am happy that we finally got into the 10's and was doin everything that i could to help the team. I hope that one day I'll see that car in the 9"s with this crew, we all did our parts to make this happen. Much love to everyone that came out and supporting us and helped, I'am very happy to say that all of our hard work paid off . In life in order to go some where we got to have a great crew that is willing to do what ever it takes, but most important thing is to have great team work.
Good times. Here is the matching video kickin_81 posted of me and Fobia, from inside my car. 12.33 @ 111 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qTPv0xLc_yE My best time of the day was the last run, 12.23 @ 112 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=haGAHjkmps4 Thanks NF for a great tune! Great day for racing!
10 second lug nuts! That is awesome man. I had a great time out there with everyone and it was nice to meet a few new people. If it wasn't for the 10 second lug nuts and 10 second radiator hose... I just don't think it could have been done. Things went really smooth on Saturday and it was great to see everyone working together. I think we had the best "pit crew" at Rockfalls. Glad I could help out. Derek
I'm sure breaking into the 10's was because Fuji was the lightest and smallest driver out there that day.
Size had no bearing on the outcome that took place on that remarkable day, if that was true 10's would've come a lot sooner. But yes even smaller people can make a big difference.
Great work! That was the first time i have made it to rock falls for a sport compact day and you guys definitely put on a good show!
