I have been a member of MNSubaru for a long time now, and have not really posted anything outside of the sales section really ever. I bought a 2006 WRX in late 2007 from a member on this forum. At the time, it had a VF39, STi top mount, turbo back, and a few other things. I have worked on it on and off, adding a littler here and there, over the course of the time I have owned it. Ever since I bought it, it has been running Nuke (of NF performance) tunes. All the way from VF39 on pump gas, to this most recent setup that Nuke tuned last week. My most recent round of work on the car includes a 2005 STi 6 speed driveline, complete, and a Blouch 18G XT turbo running E85. I wanted to post this up due to the incredible service and helpfullness of the guys over at NF. During the process of choosing the right turbo, I grilled Nuke more than a few times on his experiences with turbos and different setups, whether to build the motor, and a million other questions. I am the type of person to research something like this endlessly and not be able to make a decission, and the whole time Nuke answered my questions in a timely manner and was extremely patient in helping me get to the right decision. Having his first hand experience was a great help in the process. Regarding his tunes, I have been nothing but impressed and pleased with the results. Across 2 different turbos, 2 sets of injectors, and 2 different fuels, every map has been excellent. If there is ever a problem or something that needs to be tweaked, he has sent me a new map or corrected the issue within hours, not days. During this most recent session, I got home and sent a quick text asking for a tweak in the map, and had it 2 hours later. Simply awesome. We also had to check for boost leaks during the tuning session (something you would pay for time and labor at any other shop) and Nuke and the guys helped me out, lent me tools, and got things sorted out quickly and FOR FREE! NF knowledge, prices, customer service, and down to earth recommendations are second to none in my experience. I just wanted to share this review with the community so that people like me who research endlessly may come across it and seek out NF. Their work is top notch, and their customer service is even better. Happy Boosting.
I also agree, I just messaged him at 12:30am and had a reply in less than a minute. Let's see that with any other tuner.
They are the Subaru Whore of shops and tunes around here. If they specialize in Subarus, why would you take your car else where.
To be fair and honest, it's everyone @NF Performance, not just me. We have a great team. Always learning, so we can help and assist others.
I agree with everything so far in this thread. I've worked with both Nuke & Ko and both were incredibly informative, friendly, and all around nice guys. Not to mention I haven't had any issues with the products or services they provided. On top of that, I was able to text them both stupid n00b questions at odd hours and would receive a response ASAP. There's a reason NF is getting all of these accolades, they have a damn good business model to support their expertise.
+1 for the NF team. Great experience for my spring install and 60k service. Going there to do my clutch this summer.
The only thing I'm not fond of is the street tuning. He did a great job at it. I'm scared to be driving that wild on public streets. Nuke plays it off like its nothing but damn, I be sweating. If they had a dyno, they'd be all set.
Well stated post! I too have had great experience with NF. I don't mean to hijack the thread, but figure this is an appropriate place to share an additional experience/review of NF. I will be ever grateful for @idget connecting me with Nuke for a tune a few years back after installing my first TBE system. Nuke gave a great stage 2 tune that I loved. When the motor went, I had posted a photo on FB of my car getting pulled up on a flat bed. Before anyone else, Nuke was the first to text me and ask if I am alright, and what happened. From there, with the help of Nuke, Roger, and countless others from the NF team, a plan was devised not only to make a strong/practical build for a DD, but also made sure that parts were at the best prices (and quality), and that all details were addressed. Roger and Nuke were so helpful, patient, and kind throughout the whole process. I was able to learn a lot about my car, and the process that was taking place. Since the build, I have been beyond happy with it. As the break-in of the motor was happening, I happened to spring a leak in a couple OEM (~8 year old) radiator hoses and began to overheat near the MOA. I was able to pull into the MOA ramp, and within 25 minutes, Nuke was there to assist me and be sure that I was on the road again that night. Again, another great teachable moment (along with great conversation). There have been countless other moments, from routine maintenance, installation of gauges and stereo equipment, to the random texts to the guys to ask about their opinion on X part or mod. They will go out of their way to give back the community, and make sure that you and your car's needs are met. These are genuine guys, who equally care about their customers, and their customers cars. NF provides the kind of service many businesses strive for.
I'm sure they are a great shop and great people, but I'm not sure what they have against me, but my experience hasn't been to great since I met Nuke at Calhoun til now. Despite bad experiences so far, I'll gladly still do business with them if they choose to.
Seeing this post reminds me I need to pay NF a visit added a couple new parts . I work at a Subaru dealership and every tech that has driven my car loves how hard and smooth it pulls, while still retaining good in traffic manners.
I have known most of these guys for a very long time, and typed words via the internet can't properly express how I feel about how they work as a team and how pleased I have been to see them grow as a business.
Top secret/Area 51 type stuff. Nobody knows it's exact location. Seriously though, these guys are great! Nuke was nothing but helpful when I was inquiring about part recommendations, tuning questions, etc...I have giant PM's in my inbox to prove it! lol Couldn't be more pleased...I wouldn't take my baby anywhere else.
I second this! Ripping up and down a public highway several times in a row is sketchy at best...especially with the EWG screamin'! With the reputation these guys have built in the Subaru community, they should have no problem aquiring a dyno in the future! Keep up the great work fellas.
Great bunch of guys and very knowledgeable about Subarus. Will never hesitate to bring my issues to them. Two thumbs up!!
Just wanted to say thanks to Nuke and the guys at NF Performance! Car feels great! 2 thumbs and 2 toes up. lol
I need to give my fair plug for the NF guys...they have always been extremely helpful for tuning, mechanical issues/parts installs, even expert driving advice. I can't thank them enough for helping me to go faster
