Hotter than hot. I would trade my left nut for one of those. And a kidney. Not joking. 11 sec 1/4 mile out of the gate and AWD and legendary GT-R handling. Best thing of all? IT'S A COUPE AND NOT A HOT-HATCH THANK GOD :rockwoot:
actually, that v6 is the one developed from JGTC and the other Nissan racing teams... way hotter in white tho
But it comes from the Z car with its Racing V6 motor. Skylines minus the G35... have had the sexy inline motors.
yeah, its a departure from the I6, i dunno, i am still with my arms in the air over the new motor, the whole turbo integrated exhaust mani's sounds like a poor choice IMO, yeah i see the logical side...but what about the tuner market?
Tuner market is open but very expensive. Just like 350Z. Much power to be made with the right amount of ching.
nice, i like it. now only if nissan will bring back the S-chasis. but i agree, V-6 dont belong in a GT-R, it needs a I6 to keeps its roots alive. but if i have the money, i'll be all over it.
I've read it in a few places that the racing teams using the 350z found the VQ35 engine to be superior to the RB26. The RB can be put into a 350z, and I've seen it done on a couple cars in California, but the racing teams in Japan like the VQ35. I6's are nice, don't get me wrong, but you guys are knocking the use of a V6 without ever driving the car.
The VQ35DE is an amazing motor in its self. It does wonders for the Z family here. But in a Skyline it sounds funny to me.
That's different. Subaru is known for using horizontally opposed motors. Nissan is not known for using inline 6's. The Skyline was an inline 6 for over a decade, yes, we understand that. But like all good auto companies, they likely did some R&D and made the decision to use the V configuration for the current iteration of the GT-R. Oh, and btw, the Skyline has been a V6 now for over 4 years. Also, the 2009 Nissan GT-R is not a Skyline.
Don't get me wrong I also think the car is gonna be a rocket, I mean look at those numbers. But when I picture Skyline in my head I see R32, R33, and R34 dancing around. The new one just doesn't have that look to it. The new GTR would have 1.2 liters more than the previous R34 that had the RB26
THe G35 is the Nissan Skyline. It is sold through Infinity in foreign markets. They separated the GT-R from the Skyline label. It is now its own car.
i have to laugh at all the v6 bashing, the vq is a great motor series that is only getting better over the years. old Zs had i6s thats long since gone, the new m3 has a v8. things change get over it, if its still a great motor and setup then why does the engine configuration matter?
Oh my god shut up Im not bashing the motor... Just saying i like the I6 cause the way it looks. jesus christ
ok heres what it looks like, the exterior looks like you took a 350z and through it into the game Halo, The interior looks like an audi tt cross-dressed as an apache helicopter---i dont like it, i do however fancy the brakes
I stand somewhat corrected, but those were special edition cars made by Autech and Nismo. They were rare. But point taken.
meh... too busy looking, hate the center console/dash. I am sure it will have plenty of tech marvels to go with it (good thing), though. I love that it has a rear transaxle, will help with the weight distribution. Not what I would expect from a $79k car! At least it will haul ass....
The RB has been around for a long time - all the JP tuners are familiar with it and know how to extract gobs of power from it. That's the real issue I think. The VQ hasn't been around as long, so it's still somewhat untapped, but from what I've seen, it has LOADS of potential. Have to admit I've yet to see the VQ hit the sickening 1200+ hp levels of the RB, but we all know peak power isn't everything. Same situation with mitsu's 4G63 and the new MB11. A lot of people are gonna complain about ditching the 4G63, but we haven't even seen what can be done with the new block yet. The EJ20 is still an EJ20 though... but with a bit more plastic
+1. The GT-R had that look before chevy even had the cavalier, much less the cobalt that replaced it.
