this has happend to me once before last week. You car will bot produce any boost in gears 1-3 then i get boost in 4-5...but then i wont get any boost at all. THen shortly after i notice that all the boost is gone, then i smell something like the clutch is burning. i checked under the hood but everything seems fine. Any help would be appreciated

There's about 10 different things that could be causing those symptoms. Is your car stock?

Your turbo could be crap, have you looked at your exhaust when this is happening. its probably smoking like crazy

    I assume no CELs?

You should have trained professionals look at it. Bring it to Firestone or Readymix's house!

well if its the turbo then its not that big of deal. I getting a vf34 here soon. But when i drove it to work, i got some boost but now i am hitting like almost 5-23psi. I should only be gettin about 16psi wit my stg2. sometimes i will produce boost but then the boost just dies out and i get nothing, then it will just surge and give me over 20psi. But the thing that i am confused bout is why do i smell like my clutch is buring everytime. Could it be the boost controller? and No i have no CEL's

Well, you can hook a line up right from the compressor nipple to the wastegate nipple. At that point in time you will only be running wastegate pressure (8-10psi). That will tell you if it is the turbo or the bcs.

I have the same problem with my car but with no clutch smells. I brought my car into Modern Auto Performance and they looked at it for me. I have a cai, uppipe,dp and catback exhaust. the guy said that im running to lean. Since the air was colder (started happening when it got colder, weather wise) my cai and intercooler was bringing in a lot of cold air with not that much fuel or something like that and it's throwing my computer off by making it think something else. with more fuel or warmer air i guess would solve the problem or throw in my stock air box that would help a little. Well if you guys want to full explanation one of the guys at modern auto could explain in more details but like he said, i'm running lean because of my car is bringing in colder air with not much fuel. Alex was the one who test drove my car. Hopes that kind of helps

Note to self, don't ever go to Modern Auto Performance.

And they only way they would know that is if they stuck a wbo2 in your tailpipe (if you paid they stuck something in your tailpipe:hsugh:) and drop our car. They you also need to remember that you have a couple of tables in the ecu the copensates for the air temp. If that was the cas, every newer subaru would have that problem cuz they all suck cold outside air into the motor.

Come on, there could be some warrant to their claims. Could it be that the IAT sensor is malfunctioning and thinking its warmer than it is? That could make it run slightly lean....
