I need a few more details...

Year, Model, Carb, SPI (single point injection), MPI (multi point injection), turbo?

Early models had pick up and ignition moduel, later models had a optical dist and the ECU conrtoled the ignition coil.

OMG!!! I'm still having the same ****en problem.

I was finally able to get that ****en crank sensor out. I had to take the long way around >_<.

I finally put everything back together and now the car still won't spark. Could it be the cam sensor? What are the odds if crank works but cam sensor dead?

    Fuji ported heads
    Stromung dualtip catback
current dead front 02 sensor(reason for eating up a lot of gas?)
    NGK G-Power spark plugs
bought from a guy in RS25.com - used 98RS coilpack and plug wires.

well...i have a 93 impreza wagon 1.8L...i put the 1.8L back in...the swap before that was a 96 2.5L..the 2.5 ran fine that day..couple hours later i took it out and then put the old 1.8L back in..so i looked at all of the plugs and wirings...they all seemed to be fine...changed the crank sensor...nothing happened...also the cam sensor and nothing happened...so...i changed the ecu...and nothing happen..also the coil pack..nothing happend....well...i guess its time to put the 2.5l back in....anyguess anyone?

i am not positive but i don't believe that if a crank or cam sensor is out it will eliminate spark, you will still have spark but with the sensor out of whack the spark will not be in time with everything else and that makes the hard or no start.

the no spark could be a few things being bad wires, coil pack, ecu, and lots of other little possibilities.

we would need a little more background info before being able to make a more direct stab at the problem.

could there be some wiring diff between the motors that you missed that could be causing a lack of spark?

well if you are using the sensors that were in the 2.5 that ran i doubt that's the problem but if they are from the 1.8 that likely has been sitting for awhile they could be bad, but you are doing the right process trying known good parts to narrow down what could be wrong with it.

    okay...here's my problem.

The car was running with a 93 Wagon L coilpack and some autolite plug wires. Then I ordered a 98RS with 98RS plug wires for my car. After I installed it the car just wouldn't spark.

Here's what happened earlier. I went out to start the car again. The car would start and then die, not a MAF issue though. I just didn't tighten down the +/- on the battery. Then I took off one of the plug wires to see if it would spark. Yes, the car did spark. But will it be an ahole again?

This all started after I took out my IAC to take a look at it.

edit: could i possibly missed a plug somewhere or screwed up on some wiring?...

Wow, did I have the totally wrong car in my head, sorry. (EJ/EA whoops)

    Do you have injector pulse?

The crank sensor signal without cam sensor signal will get you batch fire injection pulse, no spark.

Does the "Check Engine" light work?

If you hook the Green "D check" connectors together, do you get output cycling? (fans and solenoids turning on/off every other second or so).

FYI if your crank sensor is dead it WONT run, if the cam sensor is dead, it will, is the ground hooked up?, is everything plugged in correctly?, did you perhaps jarr somthing in the process? what ecu are you running?

well..i got to test my crank sensor with someone soon...to see if its working...i've been running my ej18 ecu all this time...even with my 2.5L in it...the ground is hooked up..everything is hooked up...there is this wire that did plug up to the knock sensor...but i dont have a knock sensor...i dont know where that one came off from....how i did my ej25 swap was swapping my engine harness from one engine to another...like injectors harness etc etc....
