Does any one know where a Nissan Sr20 engine comes from? I have a 240 in my shop with this engine in it. Any info would be good.

In Australia the 240 is actually the 200SX... I believe its the 240 here due to the 2.4L egnine, but I could be wrong... the sylvia in AUstralia is usually a 1.8T engine in Australia too... or called the 180SX (turbo version) Sylvia (non-turbo)... but its been a while for me and Aussie cars... ha ha ha

..ok, Since there never was a turbo 240sx we can safely assume the engine is imported, you want info on the engine, it's a sr20det like what AWDimprezaL said. Google it up and you'll get a bunch of pages and forums.

the sr20det rwd comes from either a 180sx or a silvia

i am fairly experienced with these engines having owned, installed and modified one

what year is your 240sx? do you know if the engine is an s13 redtop, s13 blacktop, s14 blacktop, or (unlikely) an s15 blacktop?

let me know if you need help on anything. i have a full service manual for the sr20det

Its got the red valve cover. The whole story on this car is this. We first saw the car six months ago with a blown head and a bad steering gear. So he declined the reapairs. Now he calls me and tells me he needs a rack and possibly a new thermostat housing. I told him to bring it in thinking it was the stock car. Brings it in with this motor and the power steering lines are cut. Also there is a bolt broken on the tstat housing. So I am trying to figure out if I can just order power steering lines for a 240sx or do I need something different.

i'd leave the car alone and not work on it! who knows what else is broken and what he could blame you guys for! if it has that many problems and the motor is swapped! stay away!
