My girlfriend got her oil changed on her '97 camary and the shop said she had a power steering fluid leak. I'm completly ignorant of this stuff, but mechanically inclined (but prefer to just take it to a shop for this kind of stuff too).

Could this be something as simple as crawling around looking for a loose hose clamp, or is this usually an indicator of worse things to come? What should she expect to pay a shop to fix or replace?

She says it steers fine and she didn't even notice any difference, but maybe she just doesn't know what to look/feel for. I haven't looked at it yet.

Check the fluid level. See if its low. Also just inspect the power steering system for leaks. On yotas they tend to have leaks coming from the power steering reservoir tank hoses. Usually you can fix the leaks by re clamping the hoses.

also on camrys, the steering racks like to give up the ghost. Find the leak and if you can, grab a picture of it and post it here.

    Reservoir leak=$5

    steering rack bleeding out=$1300
