Well, I figure I should introduce myself as its only a matter of time before I end up owning a Subaru. Ive spent enough of my time working on the things, and I think its time I find a boxer of my own.

My name is Ian, and some of you may know me. Ive stopped by Firestone a few times, and talked to people here and there.

Some of you may recognize the flat black S14 240SX that I built. The red S13 is my daily driver/winter beater.

I sold the S14 last fall to begin my new project. I know my S14 didnt show it, but Im a rally guy at heart. I decided that Ive reached an age where owning a full blown race car, is finally an achievable goal. You're all thinking Subaru right? Sorry, Im Nissan through and through.

It started off innocently enough with an S13 240SX shell.

    Then the interior went away.

    A cage and some seats.

    Some paint, and suspension.

And the rest remains to be seen. The car is an ongoing project, and Im shooting to have her done by mid summer. If you want to see more, or follow as things progress, check out my build thread. http://forums.nicoclub.com/zerothread?id=457229&page=1

But I digress. The real reason I am here, other than to piss off the purists, is to find myself a Subaru.

Im on the hunt for a late 90s Impreza Outback sport, or Impreza sedan. I plan to use the car as my daily driver, as my S13 coupe is quickly loosing its battle with rust. Now to really annoy some of you. I hate AWD. I hate the way it handles, feels, and the piss poor gas mileage. The first thing I will be doing, is a RWD conversion. The center diff will get welded, and the front axles removed except for the stubs in the wheel bearings.

Why a Subaru then you ask? Because I can, and no I will not be building it into a drift car, that is just how I roll. I like Subaru's engineering, and the thought they put in to things, its very similar to Nissan.

I guess I will leave it off there, I've been long winded enough. Hopefully I haven't stirred up too much ill will.

    You better believe it.

Hahahaha, I wish. Im pushing to be safely ready for NT2. By safely I mean Id rather not spend the whole night before trying to put the car back together.

Ideally I would like to get some shakedown time in late May, just in time for the North American Nissan Convention

Welcome! Nissan's are pretty solid from what I've seen, and we're definitely pro-Subaru here, but also have a good rally fanbase as well! Hope to see your car at Nemadji 2 or 3!

Went and looked at a Impreza today. Needed some work, but I may decide to pick it up early next week. Still on the lookout.

    You would.

In his build thread it sounds like it might be a parts car for the rally ride.

Parts. Its a big box of spare parts that just happens to look like a car.

Funny thing is, I think it knows how I feel about it. 2 days ago it decided to run on 2 cylinders for half a day for no reason, then last night my wife took it to school because I was putting the summer wheels on the Maxima, and her key snapped off in the door lock. I went to play AAA, got the car open, but when I went to start it, the starter just clicked. After a little banging, she fired up, but still.

Well, I wanted a subaru for the ease of repair, the reliability, and the offroad capability.

What I ended up getting has all of the above with an extra helping of offroad snuff.

I guess I just cant help myself.
