Hello all, The name is Curtis and the car is a 02 WRX WRB Bug. He is proving to be quite a spoiled brat but i love him very much. This is how he started: Ebay girlle and headlights: Ebay Taillights: and i apparently dont have any pics of the current look...:hsugh: got a hold of painted stock headlights and the stock taillights from the previous owner though and a different(better looking IMO) grille. whoever baked/painted the headlights did a terrible job so eventually ill be buying all new ones and getting them retrofitted with projectors from Lightwerkz.com. and the stock taillights had a problem with the harness so one of the brake lights wouldnt come on. fixed that by removing the matching bulb from the other taillight as i didnt want to be bothered be the PO-PO haha and thats about how he sits today... quick pic of the engine bay i spose for fun it needs to be cleaned and reorganized i know... some people dont care that much about the little things i guess.... current mods are(by the previous owners i havent gotten to do anything FUN for him yet) VF39 Turbo APS Thermal Cooled intercooler CAI Ebay TBE TurboXS engine management swapped tranny but idk from what year yet im waiting to hear back on the findings from the tranny code... lol future mods are: Tune Retrofitted headlights Custom shift knob from WC Lathewerks Invidia catted downpipe Invidia N-1 or G200 Catback Titanium tip of course various new hoses and pipes for the sake of engine clean up/orgainization possible front end conversion to peanut/croc eye or hawkeye idk yet Current issuse are: SCREAMING power steering pump/belt Speedo and Odo read double do to some kind of issue with the swapped tranny(yet to be figured out) minor oil leak Thats about all i got so far... for the time being I'm having to spend my money fixing him up first, its no fun to have to fix someone elses half-a$$ed efforts... but itll be worth it in the end. oh and i know the rims are hideous and the wing is odd and the muffler looks like it could shoot out watermelons... the wing actually isnt that bad looking in person its going to stay, the rims are staying for right now due to more important things needing money first, they will eventually be replaced by with gold or silver Rota Tarmacs, G-Forces, or possibly Torques havent decided yet. And the exhaust is on the to-do list. Thanks for stopping by and i look forward to chatting it up, Curtis
Have you tried to replace the clamps on the power steering hoses with worm style clamps? Also replace the O-ring inside the inlet. Mine was doing it and shuttering as well, about $3 in parts made it good as new again. If you need links to what I am talking about I can dig some up.
Welcome. Good to see more bugeyes popping up Quick question, how are those ebay headlights? I have been thinking about getting a set for mine but I don't know anyone who has had them so I can't really decide.
http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1897783 I just replaced all the clamps and the 11x16x2.5mm o ring in the inlet, that seems to work for most people. If it doesnt there are threads about ripping the powersteering pump apart and replacing the rest.
i personally didn't like them. mostly just the look though. but the light output wasn't too bad. i work with the previous owner and he told me one of the halos that the lights had burnt out in like 2 months... have you thought about buying a retrofit kit and retrofitting projectors into the stock headlights? looks tons better and seems to have much better light output. its all the rage for the bug guys on NASIOC. you can either do it yourself orLightwerkz does beautiful work. although its pretty spendy to send in your lights and have them do it. about $700-800 for the projectors and install, and i think they aim them as well. i know its for a 04-05 but if you look here you can see how much time and effort this guy puts into his retros. i have alot of time on my hands so im just going to buy a kit and see if i can't install them myself... and if i cant ill be going back to the ebay projectors for a while... haha there are also many many write ups of how to retrofit into bugeye lights.
thank you and yea i like it, no need for a turbo timer, although the previous owner had one installed for some reason anyway... AND it doesnt even work... lol but its kinda big and heavy when your trying to move it to find your tranny code so you can sort out some issues the car has... haha
