Is this OK to use on our cars? Any negative effects to be aware of? I've seen stuff that says on the bottle it will boost your gas up to 104 octane. I assume you need to fill up with premium to reach that number. or can you use super unleaded and use this to get, say, 102 octane?

    Any input appreciated!

There is no way an octane booster bottle will raise your fuel octane to 104. Not possible. For a 16oz bottle of something to raise your octane from 92 to 104, the contents of that bottle would need an octane rating of 1292. I doubt seriously that they are selling 1292 octane fuel in bottles for 8 bucks.

it has to have to affect, or they would get sued for false adv. but it could just boost by like 1 oct or something

it boosts it by about 0.1 octane actually...thats it. You would need 10 bottles of that stuff to boost it 1 octane point.

Ah ha...now this says it boosts octane level by 5 points http://www.autobarn.net/ch10406.html

So I read the 104 and assumed that was the octane level you would achieve. My bad:)

But anyways one of my other questions was if this was OK to use as far as you guys are concerned once in a while?

I guess this stuff is suppose to work. That stuff you get at the gas station is junk.

Well, with our torco, a 32 oz bottle is supposed to bring 93 to 104 (in 5 gallons of gas). You need to remeber that it might bump it 5 points, but 8oz will not do that to 16 gallons. I think with torco 32oz bumps 93 to 96 in 20 gallons. I know with the torco stuff, I was able to add 3 degrees of timing and 2 psi of boost with any problems.

5 octane points = .5 Octane numbers. Believe what you want, and go ahead and throw 87 in your tank with a bottle of this...then do a couple WOT runs. Call us when the repairs are done. Trust me, if one bottle made 87oct into 92, then EVERYONE would be using it. Even the TORCO stuff requires quite a bit more than 16oz to make higher octane numbers.

correct.. octane boosters only boost octane in minimal points. i highly doubt it'll even get a 1 octance higher from adding an octane booster in your fuel cell... try toluene or xylene, 114 octane and 117 octane respectively... find it at a paint store or local chemical store... if there's any. now that'll boost your octane, definitely... but don't come crying to me if you damage your car by not knowing how to use it properly... remember to never house more than a 70/30 concentration of gas /fuel additive mixture, or you'll risk major damage to your vehicle.

never tried it, but i've only heard good things. do a couple of searches...

You forgot to disclaim yourself from it BLOWING UP in your face while mixing it. As with any other explosive chemical, it will blow up in your face if you don't mix it right.

I hope you've got an engine computer where you can advance timing to take advantage of the higher octane fuels as Russ can, otherwise running higher octane fuel in a car that can't actually take advantage of the higher flashpoint is waste of money.

All I know is without the torco I was getting knocks, with it I dont. I ran it basically all summer; 5 of Russ' 6 cans if I remember right.

    ~22psi with pretty aggressive timing.

I just bought 5 gallons of it too

Maybe Jorge can comment on this... He was shooting for quite a leaner afr when I told him that the torco was in my tank if I remember correctly than the guys that were just running regular pump.

^^ mmm... raising the bar 60 points? that's a lot for a bottle of anything... how much do you add in to raise it that much?

Also, make sure it's unleaded 110, unless you want cat and o2 problems.

I agree with Fuji... just spend that extra $8 for that little pissy bottle of additive on better quality gas... 32oz bottle as opposed to maybe 2-3 gallons of fuel.. hmmm not rocket science..
