So I just got my car back from the auto body shop to get the front quarter panel repaired. On my way home, the car felt quite different when at freeway speed. Basically - if I turn the wheel just a little bit to the left or right the whole car would start shimmering, and the right was more pronounced than the left. I checked the lug nuts on the tire by the repair to ensure that they were tight but I don't think the shop would have touched anything else. Any ideas? Could it be the tire is out of balance? I have Eibach sways and Kartboy hangers...everything else is stock.
Somebody backed into me when I was waiting to go through a carwash. I needed to get the front quarter panel repaired.
Was this a highway you drive regularly? If not, maybe it has slight rutting and being unfamiliar with it you assumed it is the car. Or you were driving 150 MPH and were experiencing aero effects because the shop didn't get the contouring of the repair to match the other fender. That's all I got.
Take it back to the Body Shop right away. Also, check all around the tread area of the tire for a balled up piece of tape wedged in there. Painters love to throw balls of tape at each other. Possible suspension damage if someone backed into your fender, they may have also hit your tire or wheel. Even if there is no visible damage. Have them do an alignment and balance that wheel. Have the shop dig into it.
Hey thank for the thoughts - I think I will take it back and have them do a alignment and balance. I don't know about the front control arm bushings. I have 55,000 miles on the car. Would they be a normal wear and tear item, or possibly damaged due to being hit?
