I fish the SWIM league which is the South West Intramural Metro league. We fish multiple lakes and multiple species. I LOVE it. A friend of mine (one of three ladies in the league) caught this beast this week.

Wow, very nice. Sounds like a lot of fun. I have had to cut down on the tourneys over the last few years. I'm in the process of training in my new partner, my 3 year old daughter. Good luck on Friday, make sure you post your results.

    tight lines,
    Steve

We canceled our pool 4 tournament for this weekend because of the conditions. INSTEAD, we're heading up to the Rainy River on Friday after work to go pull some dinosaurs. I'm pumped! I've never fished Sturgeon before.

We got onto the Rainy River and Lake of the Woods this past weekend.
It was a blast. We caught a handfull of Walleye, a couple Sauger and about 12 Sturgeon.
    It was a GREAT time.

It was a LONG drive for a day-and-a-half of fishing and it was COLD, but worth it.
I'd never been Sturgeon fishing before.

I've only been targeting Bass for a few years but I have had the best luck with these three:
Yamamoto Senko (6" and 8"), Lake Fork Ring Fry (with and without garlic salt) and one more that I can't remember the name, but they are a fish-like body profile and have a mean looking Walleye coming out of the water for the logo...

Try a Hula Popper from Arbogast. Bass will pound them all season long at dawn and dusk.

if this is in response to my post - I used the jellyhoos for pike and musky. it's a saltwater softplastic. put this fish in the boat last year on a 1/2 ounce esox cobra head jig. I can't find anything quite as good it seems

/\/\/\ All fish in Metro lakes... :) I'm putting the feelers out and trying to see if I can find some, I'd LOVE to give those a shot. I just E-mailed Mann's to see if they are discontinued.

Mayhem Racing recently took a trip to the FL Keys. We were VERY fortunate to have a once in a lifetime opportunity to rent a house and be able to use a 24 foot triple pontoon boat with a 350 cid inboard outboard. We were able to get in three days of fishing. Day one we stayed in close and got some action but mostly small stuff that we didn't keep. Days two and three we went out to the outer reef that is about 10 miles from the house, about 7 miles offshore. We caught Spanish Mackerel, Hogfish (very tasty), Ocean Sheephead (very tasty and nothing like freashwater sheephead), Yellowtail Snapper, Lane Snapper, Blue Runner and various Grunts. The Mackerel are very fast and can really peel the line off. The rest are all shaped like panfish and fight accordingly but due to their bigger size, the fight is more intense. I did hook into one Barracuda on a lightweight rig with 6 lb test. I got five runs each direction before the fish decided he was done screwing around and just plain beat feet (or fins) until the hook came out.

We ate all we kept while we were down there. There is NOTHING like a Spanish Mackerel salad sandwich while you are reef fishing 7 miles offshore in 75 degree weather in the middle of March. Thanks to Brent, Carrie, Mary, Amanda, Noah and Ellie for being my fishing partners and thanks to John and Sandy for renting us the house and allowing me to have this life experience.

WOW, Fobia! That 2nd one is a MONSTER!!! Are you out in the wide part of the river- just before the gap?
They are COOL fish, huh!? STRONG!

This was one of my biggest about 3 weeks ago.

We've also put a decent amount of Crappie in the boat so far this year. I'm in the process of putting my boat back together so I hope to have that done in the next couple of weeks. The floor was completely rotten so I had to tear it out and replace it.

Caught 2 nice sturgeon this past Sunday on Rainy River. The first one was a few inches smaller than this one. My father-in-law had to help me hold it up--it was a bit heavy ;) Now I can die happy cuz I caught my big fish :) However, I'll be back there every year to catch that 100 pounder!

We'll be out on Waconia tomorrow for a Crappie tournament. Have any of you hit Wac this year for the Crappie? I haven't had any time to prefish for this one, and would be willing to trade a couple spots for hot Crappie spots right now. (I already know about the action in front of the marina... :p)
