blargh: seats and steering wheel, entire bodywork and especially the rear seat ok: the gauge cluster and the clock, the wheels are nice way to put the same everything powertrain wise from the ev0 9 in a heavier body, and offer one new tranny with irreplaceable motorcycle clutches in it. I'd rather buy an evo 9, even mitsu claimed that the yaw control actually made the car turn in worse laptimes and wasnt a big loss on the american car. the front bumper cover makes the FMIC look tiny but at least its not as plasticky looking as the first model. the mitsu logo on the steering wheel is ungodly huge.
Like the front and the mirrors, not a big fan of the back. looks really good though. the wheels are dead sexy as well!
well in a way i'd rather have a 4g63. at least i'd know that it makes the same power and a gajillion guys in the usa can tune it and there are already tons of parts for it.
true. I think most people feel that way. I'm interested to see what they can do with this motor though.
I'll always see the 4G63 as a time bomb. I know way too many people that had serious issues with their DSMs... I guess that motor just left a bad taste in my mouth. IMO, anything new is a step in the right direction. I really like the styling, but can't say much about the mechanical bits. Either way, I like my STi.
it does seem big, i like the clock, and the fact that it doesnt look like much competition for the sti
can't wait for this beast to come out!! that way I can get the evo IX at a discount. hopefully i'm wrong but this looks like the nail in mitsu's coffin.
That's still a prototype. It has cross drilled rotors and Ohlins struts though. That'd be a beefy upgrade. edit: upon further review those look to be Bilstein struts, not Ohlins.
Looks like the 20 inch BBS's and lap time won't make it but the rest should... http://www.motortrend.com/features/auto_news/2007/112_news070108_mitsubishi_prototype_x
It doesn't look nearly a purposeful as teh IX. Probably gonna be harder to tune/modify/pay for. Does any body know pricing at all? I bet its gonna be closer to 40 grand than 30...sucks for everyone. But hae I could be completely off base with that last statement.
I think it looks gorgeous. Slap me for it...but I love it. I look forward to seeing some on the road. I'll never drive or own one, but yeah, I like the new look. Keep in mind many of us hated the new STI's look until we saw it on the road. Real life 06's=badass. Most car companies are going the route of bigger facias and more muscular looks (new 'yota camry, audi a4, a6, etc.) with HUGE success. It pulls in the mid 30-40's male side of the market who are tired of driving cars that dont reflect their "machoness", but they still want the great gas mileage of a small four cylinder. I think a lot of the size also has to do with crash test ratings and needing bigger crush zones. Plastic doesnt rust and its technology has really improved over the past years in the automotive industry, it deflects small impacts with less damage, and big ones more efficiently. I agree with esperunit though. I'd rather see them stick with a form of the 4g63 as well, at least its tried and true. Unreliable sure, but there isnt much out there in the form of a high perf. 4 cylinder thats easier to push big numbers out of half as cheap. I'm curious what motor is going in now, maybe they have finally designed a mistu motor that wont crank walk, throw bearings, or leak oil everywhere
The suede on the dash is also a nice touch. Glad to see a manufacturer taking some hints from its market.
Come on, much improvement over the Eclipse tho. lol I've seen all of 2 of them on the road over the last 2 years..... This just means more STI pwnage! Oh, and the back looks awfully plain in contrast to the crazy nose.
eh, looks like a lexus IS mixed with an Acura TSX. I don't know that I like it...yet. Could grow on me.
I also like the looks. The front fascia looks pretty mean! But as for the suede dash and red neon lights across the dash, looks a bit like a strip club on the inside. I wonder if it smells of cheap cologne!?
i like the hood most... i think its a good step for a new thing.. but i dk i think its a step down from its reputation of a rally car. I say a plus for the evo, we just need #s now.
