Hey, I noticed in a past forum there was talk about putting in an Oil catch can in the WRX. Mostly the forum was between Russ and Vic, but didn't give any specific details. Can you guys let me in on what you did? After seeing the traces of oil in my Intercooler and hoses, I decided I'd like to have the oil collect somewhere else. I think this can would be a nice place, maybe shaped liked a toilet so I can flush it back to where it belongs. Thanks, Ryan yeah I don't post much, mostly just read. I'm the guy with the '02 Blue wingless automatic WRX with Scooby Sport exhaust. Yup, it's more than just a muffler now. BTW, for those of you who remember, I straightened the dual tailpipe so it doens't looked like my car is on crooked.
Welcome Ryan Josephs, Thank for the into, as for the Oil Catch can you can make your own, I've seen Matt's, and will probably be working on making my own soon. PCV pipes, hose's and tape, ect C
Ryan, I remember you... Updated... just this past winter with the help from Matt. I was able to make my home made oil catch can which cost no more then $25. It does the job and it's worth the mod. Pay your local Home Depot and Auto Parts store for the parts and a good hour or two and you're done. Matt, do you remember what was all the parts that's needed?
I've been trying to figure out where this can would mount to. Now that I have the Scooby up pipe and down pipe, I no longer have the heat shielding around the turbo/pipes. This means more open area to work... or mount an oil catch can. I'll probably go with something black to keep it looking stock. I continue to build my sleeper car, heh heh.} Ryan
I'll let you look at my engine bay and see if you can spot the oil catch can? It's as stealth as stealth can be.
I would like to know parts and design. I'm sure I could make one from parts bought at a local hardware store. If you got the parts then, yeah I'm interested. Does it seem to be working? Do you find much oil in it after ~6 months?
Well Matt, we need to get together sometime so I can pick up the equipment I need for the catch can. This weekend I'm going out of town to my cousin's cabin. It's on North Long lake in Brainerd. Nice thing about that is; residents on North Long get into BIR for free. Which is 1 mile from cabin. Hmmmm... should I enter my car this weekend for a ΒΌ mile test run? Next weekend after that I geuss I'm going to Duluth[xx(] Unless something happens mid week, it may be awhile before I get down to University. Dang, that kinda sucks. Guess I'll see what works for you. Ryan
