End of summer is just around the corner and we all know what that means. Time for rally in the North Woods around Bemidji, MN! http://www.ojibweforestrally.com/index.php This year they've added a motorcycle stunt show on Thursday night, August 21st. Kenny Bartram will be throwing it down at the Bemidji Speedway. Volunteering is still the best seat in the house, so sign up and be ringside for the fun. If you're new to volunteering check out my volunteering thread on the different worker positions. http://www.mnsubaru.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17532 A couple of us are going to meet Thursday morning South of Motley then head up to get some bannering done, visit with the teams that are doing the practice stage and then head over to the speedway to watch the Kenny show. Send me a p.m. if you want to come help us banner Thursday or have any questions. Fyi... Headquarters is at the Bemidji Curling Club this year so registration and the awards banquet will be there as well. Amy
i'm definitely going/working friday and saturday and possibly on thursday. i have a 1 room kabin at the KOA which is very close to the rally for thurs, fri, and sat nights. it says it is located poolside, close to the bathrooms, and has its own firepit. it can accomodate up to 4 people and was just over $50 a night. if anyone is still looking for a place to stay or wants to decide last minute, let me know. i don't snore. i need this!!! http://www.iwsti.com/forums/2008-sti-discussion/115868-2008-sti-pictures-post-yours-3.html *jealous*
Do you mind if I take you up on this? My fellow worker bagged on me and it'd be nice to not have to sleep in my car like last year.
For sure! I have no idea what the bed/room situation is going to be like. It says it accomodates up to 4 guests but I have no clue if it's just a room or if it has beds or what. I'm going to bring my airmattress just in case. Maybe someone else has stayed in a KOA Kabin before and can enlighten us?
We're getting together a nice Thursday bannering crew. Should be a lot of fun. Looks like we'll end Thursday at the motorcycle show for those that want to meet up but don't have time to banner Thursday. Don't forget to meet up Friday a.m. so we can get Friday's stages done! As well as Sunday to help de-banner. It's amazing to see what the roads look like before and after they are run and imagine the speed the were driven after seeing the stage times. Also don't forget to sign up to volunteer! http://www.ojibweforestrally.com/index.php Amy
Yeah, I've noticed that as well. My understanding is it starts Thursday, at 7 p.m. at the Speedway, tickets cost $7 and some of the drivers will be around for autographs. I've also heard that, if everything works out, there will be a display of some Rally Cars and an autograph session on Nicollet Mall on Wednesday over the lunch hour, I think its between 7-8th street. If you work downtown, check it out. Amy
thanks for the details. i am going to be at an autocross this saturday and will do some PR for OFPR. 7 at 7. there will be more people than just kenny messing aorund for 2 hours wont there? i really think it is time that there was some sort of show/party in fargo before the event. we are only about 90 minutes from the stages. that isnt that much farther than bemidji is from the stages. and yes i would really be up for assisting in putting together something for next year.
finally know when I'm going to be there leaving thursday after work up all day on friday and saturday registered to work too
Ooh, I would love to try and get out there on the Saturday to watch a stage or two. I think we'll be up at Lake Millelacs by then. How come it starts so late in the day ? Do American rally crews like to sleep in ? Stuart.
it has to do with the permits for road use. we have to share the forest with a lot of other groups and that is the soonest we can get the roads shut down. the saturday stuff is going to be down by osage. should be a good time.
You also have to give us time to get the Friday roads all bannered! Come help us and it will go faster. Amy
As much as I'd love to, I'm afraid I won't be able to swing that. However, I plan to make up for it by working at next year's WRC rally in Cyprus  Stuart.
I know for sure Boomer, his wife, and me...and we're meeting Amy at 8AM in BFE. We're leaving the cities very early on thursday....real early
Oh ya Dork. It's not that early. I won't have to get up till 7:30a.m. Oh wait, I live in BFE Also might have Erick Nelson from Fargo area meet us up towards Park Rapids to help. I had a PM from a Lexi that was looking for a ride North to possibly help us banner. I told them to PM boomer or Scuba Steve. Amy
yeah, miss "I can roll out of bed and land in my car and be ready to go" LOL...Lucky! See you then....I'm so pumped. man we're going to have a good time!!!
Boy Dave I get you to one rallly and look what happens. I told you you would be hooked. I can't wait too get up there. I just finished my light bar and I'm installing it tonight along with a few 500's. If all goes well I may have my rear diff skid plate done by then as well.
no crap, driving down the road last weekend I thought I had a broken tie-rod end. Nope, it wasn't. My car spotted a dirt road and swerved towards it....:eek3:
Wife: "why were you late?" Me: "gravel road" Wife "Let's hit it on the way back!:yumyum:" We did say in "sickness" and in health.
Where (and what is) BFE? I'd like to help do some of the bannering Thursday, so cruising up with you chaps seems like a good idea.
I'm proud to have passed the virus to your pusher, Amy. Just think, she blamed me but is now doing the same. Mark (somewhere in the middle of the rallitis tree) Utecht
I never thought of it that way, but it is VERY true I do think that you, along with others like Brent and Mark are lucky to have wives that understand and enjoy Rally and other types of racing. I know a lot of women who are like "you do what? and you enjoy it?" Yeah, I do. We do.
Last September, on the way home from a wedding in Bemidji, we decided to take a short detour through some of the roads just east of 64 (Friday stages last year). Our friend Mike was excited, his wife, not so much. Me, I suggested it and choose a route for us and did my best to navigate based on the map  That is truly in "sickness" Carrie
after going to our first rally together in 99 my wife and i spent the whole weekend talking about how much fun it would be to rally. i think we have only missed one ojibwe since then. sprongl's S2 had that effect on people.
Bump for pending fun! Current Thursday Bannering plan is to meet at 8 a.m. at Lincoln Gas and Bait and head North. For folks that live up that way and want to join the Thursday fun, plan for up North is to head into the woods from Rock Creek Store just North of Itasca State Park's North Entrance, the corner of County 200 and County Rd 2, at 10:30 a.m. Amy
And for those that are not able to make it up the night before, I can head up a group that wants to leave bright and early friday morning. Also sounds like there will be some rallyfest fun Wed afternoon downtown and around 3ish at tonka subaru. Russ
This si the info I have received. The cars will be on display on the Nicollet Mall in downtown Minneapolis from 11-2:30 on Wednesday August 20. They will be between 7th and 8th streets. Cars will be unloading at Morries Subaru in Minnetonka and then going down town. I think there will be a shuttle going back and forth as well. At 2:30 the competitors will go out to Morries for an autograph session. Also, this year at our event on Thursday night Cowboy Kenny will be doing a demonstration of some of his jumps and tricks on his bike at the Bemidji Speedway. Anyone up for a trip downtown on the 20th?? Russ
