X-tremely Cool Cars come to the Twin Cities.

Fresh from their recent appearance in front of a global television audience as part of the 2008 X Games, the cars and stars of the Rally America professional national rally championship are amassing on the Nicollet Mall in downtown Minneapolis and Morrie’s Subaru in Minnetonka next Wednesday.

You can meet many of the drivers that competed in X Games 14 and see the cars belonging to Rally America’s current and rising stars.

    Featured vehicles:
Tanner Foust’s Rockstar Open Class WRX-STI
Andrew Pinker’s Rockstar Open Class WRX-STI
Jeff Moyle’s Aaron’s Open Class WRX-STI (The late Colin McRae’s vehicle at
    X Games 12,13)
    Kyle Sarasin’s CPD2
Andrew Comrie Picard’s Open Class Mitsubishi Evo
Cowboy Kenny Bartram’s Open Class GC8 WRX
TBD Subaru Rally Team USA 2008 Open Class WRX STI
    Mark Utecht’s Ford Mustang

Get up close and personal with the cars just days before they head north to battle the logging roads around Bemidji in the Ojibwe Forests Rally on August 22-23. Have your photo taken, get autographs and enjoy the amped-up ambiance provided by some of the world's most talented extreme athletes and their rides.

    WHO: RALLY CARS AND STARS
    WHAT: Rallyfest 2008
    WHEN: Wednesday, August 20, 2008

2:30-4:30PM Morrie’s Subaru, Minnetonka, on 394 directly across from Ridgedale Mall
    WHY: Because it's cool

Awsome event, is Tanner going to be there too? He's been alot busier since I met him last year, I have lots to catch up with the guy. I'll be stuck at work but, if he's there I'll find a way to be there. LOL

Sounds like a good reason to "work" from home for part of the day. I don't know if I will be able to make it, though

I still want to make up to the rally some year.

This is going to be good. Why is it in two locations? Packing everything up would be a chore (unless you're the one driving the cars onto the trailers, downtown, with anti-lag on)

I'll be at both for each's duration. Rally is cooler than Mr. Freeze listening to MIA.

I am definitely in for the Tonka stuff. I heard a bit of something about maybe a shuttle bus back and forth from tonka to down town. Any truth to that rumor??

The same cars will be at both locations- there is no reason to go to both sites.
If you are going to go to one or the other go to the Tonka location. There will be food, giveaways of Subaru stuff and more time to chat with the drivers and crew members.
Why two locations? Lots of natural traffic (200,000 people work in the area) at the downtown site to introduce people to rally, the Tonka event is for the more hard core rally fan.

Any chance of the tonka event running a little later than scheduled? It's right on my way home from work and I would love to see some of these cars up close! Even if just a few stick around late I would stop by. Please say it has a chance of running past 4:30!

I plan on trying to hit up Minnetonka. I am in Milwaukee right now driving up tomorrow morning so whenever I get out of here is whenever I'm free. I still have to pack up the computer and a few odds and ends so chances are I won't be there in time for downtown. I live in Uptown, so not far from all the madness.

I'm going to be on radio silence until Comcast comes to install my internet on Thursday so hit me up on my cell 617.686.1679 and let me know where y'all are at! here's what i look like too, so if you see this face wandering around with a lost puppy look on it, come say hi

hey now, the galant is awd turbo lol. don't really want to put that many miles on the rally tires over pavement tomorrow - may have to go home to switch vehicles before coming out (that's if i get out of work in time. been working 10 hour days so far this week)

She's new and will be making her first appearance tomorrow. If you play nice she may let you take a ride in her 08 STI but no promises.

I was there, showed up and spoke with Scott Putnam, he informed me of the bad news as to why there were soo many few cars this year. Those crazy rally drivers and the Extreme X-Games eliminated quite a few cars. Tanner Foust wasn't able to make it either, bummer! Thanks for putting this event together.
