What's with all this Sunday business! How are the "outsiders" supposed to make it to any of these events!? I've got no problem drivin 3 hours or so to an event, but I'm not divin 3 hours there n back in a day. Booo
same boat, i may drive down from the range for it, unsure yet...sundays are the "usual" day for these to go down. timing and scoring, is there a season points standings floating around somewhere?
These should honestly be on saturdays. That way I can make it to them considering I have to drive from Milwaukee!!!!!!!!
^This. Sundays are always best for me as well. As for being out of town, maybe find someplace to stay over in the cities on Saturday night? ^And this. Pretty sure I'm on top of the PA class, but want to see how far ahead I am. Back to the old stomping ground! Can't wait. We haven't raced there since the season opener, when there was still alot of snow, ice, water, mud, jeeps stuck, etc.
I'm looking to co-drive someone's car for this one. Unfortunately the Forester's going to be sitting out for the rest of the year, too much accumulated work and too little cash to have it in the condition I'd like it to be in. I intend to baby the thing till I'm done with college this semester and the saving up for a big rebuild next spring (engine rebuild, turbo, 6sp tranny). I'd prefer something not to break before then, so I'm looking to co-driver someone else's car instead. It makes no difference who.
This is coming up this weekend! Please sign up if you plan to attend. If for any reason you can't pre-register, but are still planning to make it, please let us know so we have an accurate head count. thanks!
I plan on attending as well. For the FRS radio, all we need is a simple motorola one from target, etc, correct? Also, I need to swap my springs before the rallyx, anyone want to help tonight, tomorrow night or thursday night? I've got all the knowledge, a garage, and most of the tools, except an impact wrench. It can be done without, but much easier with one. Let me know!
I accidentally paid three times. Surprised I haven't gotten an email asking about it... A little disapointing.
Well, Canon Falls is one of our bigger venues. I was planning to have a series of big long dori dori sweepers with very few cones that define the outer edge of the corner... but I'd like to get some feedback on what people want to see. So here's your chance to pick some elements you'd like to drive this weekend! Just post up what you like and I'll see if I can link it all together in a way that still flows well and doesn't rut up the course too bad!
I think the courses that were set up last year were great because of the technical nature of them with a little bit of everything. I think that at a venue as big as Cannon Falls, pin turns shouldn't be added as they are really unnatural, especially because they never occur in real rally.
Make it a 2 lap deal again!! Just kidding!! I like open and flowing myself. Maybe a slalom or 2. Pinturns aren't the worst thing in the world, but we could do without them. A couple of 180 switchbacks, one right after another after another...., would be interesting too. You make it, we'll pound it!!!
Haha! I couldn't help but laugh. ...then images of F&F flow through my head. Um, love flowing anything. I might make a suggestion to try and work in some false apexes, odd braking zones, or just other little tricks to think about what the best line and driver inputs might be, as in don't always believe the cones. With the way you describe, you intend to give drivers a lot of wiggle room for lines and how they want to traverse the course. I'd certainly love to see you play some trickery on that idea to promote some out of the box thinking. I know this is easy to say, but yeah, have fun figuring out a course like that, lol. Maybe the course should be in the shape of giant pumpkin.
w00t w00t. registered and paid. Sounds like there is mild rain in the forecast for sat into sunday. Would anyone be willing to let me borrow their jack for tire changing? I like the idea of a fairly open course with loosely defined corners. It allows for more options, which I think would result in less rutting of the same spot on the corner. As was mentioned above, I think that it would be neat to have a series of 180* switch backs, possibly climbing up the hill for the true dori dori feel. If it comes down to it I would prefer pin turns to slaloms.
I'll have my jack with in the truck for the subaru civic, but you'll have to fight the plumber, rexneffect, and ylime for it
stock springs are back on and strut bars are off in preparation...now my car feels like a boat! anyway, def looking forward to the rallyx. I'll be first timer, so no suggestions for the course...just make it interesting!
anyone from the EP area going? I have the 10X10' NOS Energy Tent that needs to go there. Tyler from NOS will be at the event, but I can't meet up with him before hand and I'm not going to the rally-x. Call my cell if you're in the area. FYI- The Tent is small and light enough that it will fit in the front seat of a subie....if you fold down the front seat and let it lay there. Dave 612-408-1704
wooh, i almost forgot!. CF isn't really a good terrain for pinturns anyways. i would offer myself up for testing since i'm so close, but the date is so close. i'd like to help with teching. who i talk to bout that? or when should i show? i bought FRSs, a 2 pack. so i got an extra if anyone needs one. i'll have fresh batteries too dave, you're not going to be there?! i wanted to talk to you.
Could someone please check that I actually paid?? Paypal isn't showing it in my history... I'll bring an extra $40 just in case. Fixt. Can't wait! I'm guessing it's gonna be overgrown with weeds, so it will be a little slippery, combined with the rain. Jungle Rally-X, here we come! I'll be bringing my crappy jack in case Jesse's is being used alot. Definitely wear clothes that you don't care about, because it will be dusty as hell out there, and possibly muddy.
I am excited for this one. Just bleed the brakes this morning, got the car all loaded up. Just need to put some air into my snow tires and grab batteries for the FRS radio. Is there any sort of a caravan happening?
i'd like it if the info was posted sooner. i can advertise the event down here via the paper if i know what's up a few weeks in advance so i can get little flyers made up and distributed by the sunday before. i have about 450 papers that go out on sundays
I had a great time today! Thanks Sheen, Mark, Dave Goodman et al. who made the day fun! Who's got pictures?
I had a great time today. Thank you Mark for the pointers, I think I was doing alot better towards the end of the day. I think I was starting to get close to the 46.xxx times. Goal for next time: Bumper stays on the car.
I had a blast as well, it was my first time, and I'll def be back again. I'm also interested in seeing some pics/video from today's event...
