curious if anyone has an older (cheaper) subaru for me to prep for the upcoming auto-cross season.
    Not your "city" auto-x

    car need not have-
windshield or any glass for that matter
    seats
    lights
    dash (or any interior)
    title
    plates
    the more dents/dings/scrapes the better

All i really want is something that runs (kinda) basically a motor, trans (not required), and suspension. I would prefer an awd, but could make due without. Also a 4EAT would be ideal (that way i have a spare). But i can make due with one with out a motor/trans.

i have been cruising CL with not much luck, so i don't know if someone on here has a "donor" car lying around that i could salvage to make a run-able auto-x car.

my budget is below 500, would like to stay well below that, but will obviously pay more based on how well it runs/drives.

EDIT: May also consider a newer wrx, possibly from a motor swap donor?? Damaged?? missing body panels..since i do know a junkyard will give you little to nothing for it (since that's what i normally do with prior cars that i've run)

well its supposed to be "stock", so all those trucks are barnyard finds that are run for fun. There are a few that run built trucks, but on the downlow. and they have a bunch of classes, compact cars, full size cars, light trucks, full size trucks.

thats why i want my subaru, so i can whoop some ass in the compact class.

but i suppose if you have the cash money to potentially wreck a rally car, it would probably be allowed, just no fiberglass bodies (like a racecar). Since i don't know if you know the rules, but its no holds barred, if i want to hit you i can, and if you are in my way i can push you into the dirt.

    PM Izzy on here

    He has what you need
95 Legacy L wagon, 2.2 Auto, 24x,xxx something miles, purple with purple yes some of you have seen it at the ice races (09), yes the sway bar is still hanging, was going to add a T3/4 to it, so if anybody wants to keep going with this line I will include the custom built stock manifold / up-pipe (no x-member mod needed) and the catless down pipe. I have to many projects and baby #2 is on the way so I gotta thin down some. Say 1200 or open to offers

The plumber and myself are getting a 95 Impreza L AWD here this next week for the same reason. Something to play with in the dirt and ice. Good luck with the search!

you should bring it down and join the madness, since i would imagine the rules for dirt/ice and autocross are probably very, very close.

    on second thought...i don't want any competition...

oh and i may even look into a newer wrx, i don't know if anyone has one from a motor swap lying around..even if its missing a lot of body panels..or even smashed up

yeah i have actually tried a couple junk yards around here that sell "whole" cars, and they for some reason love to crush subaru's.

and with the trouble i figured i would run into finding one, i started my search now, even though it doesn't start until August.

Now you may be on to something. If nothing else pops up I'll have to see how far I can haggle. I personally wouldn't pay 500 for that but hey it's a start

yeah i saw that one awhile ago, when i was looking to replace my car and he never got back to me. so i let it be. But thats the norm for CL, most people don't respond or ask WAY to much for stuff.

Is it concerning that he stated in the add that the front tires may need to be changed? I would think that an 80s Subaru would do really well in this kind of racing. Having the dual range transmission could be a big plus, although the EA motors are kind of lacking in power an SJR adapter plate could solve that. [cough] EJ swap [/cough]

i know i'm kinda digging that wagon, and it has pretty low miles for an 88. Now i'm unsure in the rules if i can swap a motor, BUT it says it just needs to be stock..never specifies what "stock" means..as in new(er) motor from a subaru. I bet the inspection guys wouldn't even know i had done anything, i could probably even turbo it also..since its a "stock" turbo lol ah might as well stuff an sti motor in there while im at it.

but again the price, i don't personally think its worth that but who knows.

    yes this..

now lets see if he gets back to me on this hot rod. AND i can even use the fenders to make mine look pretty again..

and i hope its awd, then again all i need to swap is the rear cv shafts and the knuckles correct? (i have the trans/driveshaft/rear diff already)

holy jeebus it has 370xxx miles on her...
