Few weeks ago, did my Taxes and figured out that I owe over $750 totaled. So I waited until i get the money(today) and went to do it again. This time I only owe $41, but get $18 from state tax. $41-18=$23 I owe. Not bad at all.

Their software was updated at the end of Feb, so things runs more accurate this time and I save my ass a good amount of money.

I was gonna pay a few days after the first visit but good thing I waited.

    Stage2 upgrade here I come.

The only thing getting money back tells you is that you made an interest free loan to the government. This also = FAIL. I like to have my cash today, not up to 15 months later.

We manage our taxes to a nominal pay-in. Helps to have a CPA wife who does corporate tax work!:yumyum:

What were you using that was so inaccurate 'til this late in the game?

Of course, I am hoping it is not what we used to file at the beginning of February...

I got about $2100 back... I probably should change my claim to a "1" or "2" so they don't take as much during the course of the year, but whatever...

Did it myself... S-M-R-T!!! I am so smart...

me too... turbotax online. depending on your situation you might be able to use it for free. it's simple to use, it just asks you questions, and even tells you what form and 'box' to find most of the info in.

    http://turbotax.intuit.com/taxfreedom/

other free things on the irs site, i tried a couple others and turbotax seemed the easiest to use. but heres the link to others.

I would have someone review those taxes that you had done on base.

I've had mine done there three times. Once they were good but two times we ended up re-filing. The people that work at those tax centers are volunteers and some are really good at what they do and... others have had a 3-day training program and are put to work. Especially since you mention that you've had foreign income (very non-standard) I would have someone take a second look. Or run them through one of the online free places (since some of them you only have to pay if you file) and see what they say.

As for Turbotax: Even my wife the corporate accountant uses TurboTax at home (stupid office doesn't let the employees file from there like her last job did). She double-checked all the figures and Turbotax did just as well as a highly-paid number cruncher.

I know that earlier this year Costco had TurboTax for $28 and then had a coupon for another $5 or $10 off.
