omg you would never guess what happened to me!!!!!

i was driving down 94 east from woodbury and all of a sudden my hood flies off and bends back and hits my front windshield!!!! it turns out the latch holding the hood snapped off? u guys ever heard of this happening? :emo:

holy crap man! what was the malfunction? latch? was it windy? were you driving fast?

 

dude that sucks...i've always been woried about that but never seen it happen

 

it was pretty windy it just happened today..i was going about 65 on 94..it looks like the latched snapped off

 

hahahaha maybe? hahaha maybe the latch was bad to begin with..ah..

 

i had a t bar snap in half one time..but i always had to bend it into place because a deer tried to play chicken with me..due to the extreme heat and me always bending it,it eventually snapped. but that was self inflicted.

 

well i'm glad that that's the only problem...

 

slamming the hood couldn't have weaken the hoodlatch could it?

I would be willin to bet that it was left over damage from a previous accident... once a car is hit... its never the same... i would invest in some hood pins...

 

but even david couldn't do that right :laugh:

 

that isnt normal.... its not like the metal bar holding it from doing that gets flexed... unlike in a front end collision... obviously was weakened majorlyin whatever incident it was previously involved in... now if it was a WMC i woul dbe taking this back to him and saying fix this under your 10000 year warranty yada yada... this pin should have been replaced, it wasnt now this has happened....

I open and close hoods all day long.... I have only seen this happen on 2 vehicles that left our shop... one was the customers fault... we never worked on the car and they opened the hood not us.. the other waas kinda our fault... we closed the hood on an OLD ****ty honda and when they got onto the highway it flew up cause the latch wasnt adjusted to catch correctly...

 

So this is seriously a WMC car? How long have you had it?

he only gave me a 3 month warrenty btw...

 

Still big BS... take it back and demand that he break it some more for you.... oh I mean fix it .

i was gonna get insurance invovled but i'd rather not cuz insurance would go up and all that gay crap..thinking about just getting it fixed that way i can be sure it works

 

So hood, scoop, and windshield. Did it get the roof at all?

A few years back when I was picking my car mustang up from the bodyshop after getting a new cobra R hood and a paint job the same thing happened to me.


I now put on hood pins

 

Damn, that's scary. I bet the latch was seriously bent before.

This was just God's way of slapping you in the face for being a cheapass knucklehead and buying a pos from WMC.

my guess is that after it was in the accident the striker was so terribly bent, so bill or george or whatever the F his name is bent it back, thus making it weak as hell.
