Well, Datsun number 2. I want this thing on stilts this weekend. I've got one door and one fender to remove, then a pair of seats and some carpet. After that we have 12 bolts to remove and then the body should lift off the car with alot of manhandling and cursing, and probably the bolt cutters. When: October 19th @ 10am till it's on sawhorses Where: Readymix's Chop Shop. See the shops section for details Why: Take the body off of another Datsun What to bring: If you have an extra set of metric sockets, that is always nice, but be sure you know your tools. All my tools are Northern. So if you leave my house with Northern tools, expect to get your nuts smashed. Gloves if you got 'em. Body panels can be sharp. And the car body isn't light. It took 4 of us to lift half of one the last time, we weren't struggling, but it isn't a walk in the park either. Shoes. Don't wear flipflops...I know I go barefoot in my garage, but that is because I have health coverage and a homeowner's policy. Your own beer. Please. I hate buying 6 different six packs for everyone. There is a great liquor store a block from my house. They were rated #1 on Beer Advocate at one point, their selection is excellent.
Edit. Oct 19th, not 18th. 18th is AWDL's party. So, Sunday of that weekend. And Friday night after FS if you are interested.
I dont plan on being awake @ 10AM, however i should be there by the afternoon if i dont have too much cleaning up to do.
If we're back from LSPR at a decent hour and yr still at it, I'll swing by for sure. I wanna see this thing up and running!
Thanks to everyone that showed up. Got alot done. Just kidding, nobody showed. I'm at the point where I need 3 extra sets of hands to lift the body onto the sawhorses. I might just have to pay 50 bucks to some migrant workers to get some reliable help.
let me know next time.. if I was in teh state I would have done my best to come by... the next few weeks I am pretty much booked schedule wise.. but if I am free on the date you need I will do my best to get over... keep the postedness coming
sorry dude. I would of came over too, but we had family in town all afternoon. Let me know if you need help and if I am free I will come give you a hand. I don't know much but I am a good grunt and can read the crap out of the numbers on wrenches and sockets. lol
I'm telling the wife now. I'll come prep'd in my carhartts. I'll bring my toolset. Do you think you'd need anything more then normal hand tools? I have a compressor that fits in the car (19gal) w/ air tools if you think a 2nd set of airtools would help.
