Short story on how I got new tires last night. All I need now is a winter tire/wheel combo next year. So, I went into Discount Tire with a puncture/leak, and once they'd pulled off the wheel they'd found some more damage. The inner sidewall of the same tire had a big bubble. Off went the Falken Sincera 828's 205/55/R16, and on went the Falken Pro G4 A/S 215/60/R16. They had them listed in the store for $91/wheel...expensive for an unplanned replacement. When a entry tire like the GT Champiro 128 205/55/R16 was around $58. I hopped online, punched in the size of the Pro G4's, and found them listed online for $77/wheel......from Discount Tire's own online outlet with free shipping! The manager @ Discount Tire in Brooklyn Park was totally cool matching that, and I managed to save myself $56. Add on the UofM $50 visa card promotion for student/faculty, and I'm basically getting a tire for free. They have a long mileage warranty from the factory 65K miles. They ride well so far!
You didn't want snow tires on the nice skinny oem wheels? Then buy some wider summer wheels in the spring?
