I am guessing by this point that some of you are already noticing that changes to the site. I am currently getting things ready for the upgrade to the new VB. I have almost everything in place but we are still looking for some graphics help. At this point, I am willing to pay someone to make a kick ass header for us. Since it looks like nobody on this site does that kind of work, does anyone know someone that does?? I figure this is my last chance to get any other club members involved and if I don't get any kind of response, I will start doing some searching elsewhere. Russ
Just to be sure...you're asking somebody to try and create a banner to replace this: Do you have anything specific in mind? I'm no photoshop pro but I've got CS and I could give somethin a try if you give me some ideas. I can't promise greatness, but you can always just say you don't like it
Basically is would be replacing the car portion, and if you chose to do some kind of gradient background, I could continue the gradient background all the way across the header. So there is a square around the car and that is the header logo. Since the background to the car uses a gradient, if I have a strip of the gradient that is the same, I can use that to repeat all the way across the head to give it the look of what we currently have. If you want to make something, by all means go ahead. I can say that when the site goes live, we will have less than a impressive header, but since the couple of us working on the new site have next to nothing for graphic skillz, the best we can do is something less than impressive. Can you post up requirements? jpg? gif? size? Do you have the ability to rotate images? Are we going to skin this for different themes?
I wouldn't mind making up a few quick header designs for you. I definitely don't expect to get paid for it though... I need the same information as asked above. Anything specific you are looking for? Is it going to have another car featured? A bunch of cars? A MnSubaru Logo?

Friend of mine is a graphic designer. I'll hit him up in vent when he eventually makes it home from work.
We will be having 2 skins. A light skin (white background with some blue headers) and a dark skin (black/dark gray background with gray headers). I can take screen shots if you want to see the exact coloring. As for size and such, nothing is set in stone. We can run a 1024x1024 header if we want. I guess the idea will be to keep things small and light, but there is no specific sizing that we need. Biggest thing to keep in mine that not everyone is surfing on a 24" wide screen monitor. I can get a list of common browser sizes if needed. As for a format, .png would probably be ideal if you want to use a transparent background, but I currently have a couple of .jpg files on my test site. No plans at the moment to rotate banners (automatically), but maybe if we can come up with a couple of pretty solid ones, we can switch from time to time (seasonal?). As for anything that we are looking for, *I* am looking for something kick ass that well represents the club. We have nothing set to the point where we have a specific design/look that we need. Both themes are pretty open to any kind of header. We can have different headers for each them (so you don't have to fit all the colors in). Really it comes down to, what would you be proud to have at the top of the website. Russ
I really like these, because it is sort of winter like..... but they do need to be MNSOC and not MNSubaru.
This i like.....though MNSOC would fit better under the Logo.... This logo represents MN and Subaru plus the official Subaru colors....:rockwoot::rockwoot::rockwoot:.....Its now my official avatar and wallpaper!!!
I have something in my head right now... hardest step is putting it on paper or screen i guess.... we will see what happens this weekend
Russ, can you post the links to Sheen's logos here? I'd like to see folks incorporate one of those in to the logo design. And yes, Ryan is correct, the banner should either have no characters (ie; not say anything), or be branded as MNSOC. Additionally, here are two screenshots of the two new color schemes. We need a banner for both. Thanks to everyone helping out .
And what would be real sweet, would be to get 1 and 4 in a 48px x 48px with 2 different colors. Basically one color would be if there is new threads and the other color would be for no new threads. It would need to be in a .png file. also I list the logos as such. 1 2 3 4 5 Thanks again for the ideas. Russ
My wife is a kick-a$$ graphic designer, I'll see if I can get her to spend some time on it this weekend. She should be able to come up with something really cool if she has the time.
Oh wow, way to flat out steal the color schemes from the t3hw00t Light and t3hw00t Dark themes. Although, I guess the light theme is just a rework of someone else's theme anyway, so whatever.

I'm all for a new logo, but I do not like any of these. Especially the ones with a car and MNSOC riding the swoosh, it looks like Fisher Price - no offense to who made it. It just looks really childish to me. But keep the ideas coming! If someone could please try to make a logo out of the panorama of cars up there, I bet it would look really nice. Just keep it to the *MNSOC logo, though, don't add swooshes and multiple stars and all that stuff. I do like the one that's b&w - but ditch the question mark stars.
Agreed. We need simplicity. I know if my boss saw those logos at the top of the page I was viewing, I'd be busted from 50 feet away. I personally think MNBodyman is on the right path. Very simple and to the point.

I would look at the two site themes that are posted in the other thread. Then adapt your current design to fit those. Maybe make a version with blue stars for the lighter theme, and yellow stars for the darker theme. And obviously make teh darker theme's banner image background black like the theme.

A LOGO is meant to be a symbol representing something.Including characters turns out to make it look like an emblem. Therefore including a dot com makes it something else.
I believe that was changed about 6 months ago or so now, since everyone felt that it was unnecessary to be afraid of being kicked in the ass by SOA for having "subaru" in the name. Basically, everyone stopped being ******s
A Logo can be character based... and they oftentimes are. You have to careful about FONT when creating a character only (and sometimes character based) LOGO for branding.
This post is testing my patience. A LOGO can be any image, symbol or typefaced set that is used for unique identification. Meaning, words can be part of a logo. You know the big red "3M" that 3M uses? That's 3M's "LOGO." It isn't their emblem or whatever. If I were you, I'd stop arguing for the sake of arguing this point, it is about to go southbound, with me driving the bus. And I'm about 3 cups of coffee short of a full load and have a 4 hour drive ahead of me. And I haven't banned a user in weeks, so I'm kinda on edge and twitchy with my Hammer of Forum Despair. Quit with the overanalysis and semantics.
