ok...so i just bought a laptop and is very interested in learning how to tune my own car using openecu...i know i just download the programs online on enginuity.org but would like for someone with alot of experince to show me the the basics on how to tune...i'm moderately computer friendly and a fast learner...maybe there are some other members out there that would like this too...

I'm fairly knowledgeable on the '06-'07 WRX ECU's, but that's simply from tuning my own car.

With that said, I would be more then willing to share my limited knowledge. A get together sounds fun. Personally, I don't think anything beats reading the enginuity.org and openecu forums. Those guys really know their stuff.

For you guys interested: Provided you have an understanding of how your turbo'd motor works, the basics of tuning aren't incredibly hard to understand. However, there are many, many, maps you can change on each Subaru ECU, and even the guys over at Enginuity still do not understand what everything does. The OpenECU project as a whole is still a work in progress. Keep that in mind.

What ECU would you run with that motor? ECUFlash has support for a number of JDM STI's.

    http://www.tactrix.com/

I purchased the one that works on all Subaru's, but you can save about $10 by just purchasing one for all Subaru DBW cars.

I bought a cable about 2 weeks ago and haven't done anything but update to the latest stock map and a small amount of logging. While I have taken a bit of time to read enginuity/openecu forums, putting it all together can be a brainfull. I would really enjoy the opportunity to pick some brains and get some guidance.

I am unsure if Enginuity works for Vista, but I think it should. You'll need the latest version of Java, though.

As the error states, it can't access the file. Check if it's there in that directory and it's read permissions. If it's there, it should allow everyone to read it.

Most likely due to Vista's new user control. Run the application as an admin.

I'd imagine UAC would have to be turned off completely.

I'd do some Q&A with what I know at Grimmspeed in exchange for pizza and Coke.
