Disclaimer: Do NOT try this BAD idea!!

Well it finally happened, "Got (Kinda) Nabed" for excessive speed on 494 north and Valley View.

I guess zipping past the Highway Patrol car sitting on the top of the ramp to get into the HOV lane, just so I could pass about 20 cars was a bad idea.

When the officer approached the car he had a big grin on his face he could hardly stop laughing as he asked me if "I was trying to get his attention or qualifying for the Indy 500". He never told me what speed he had me at on the ramp, but my speedo read 95mph

When he was done with his sarcastic remarks all I could say is that I never saw him and I would not have done it if I had. At this point he looked a me and the wife and by the look on her face he must have figured I had my own punishment coming. He let me off with a warning, I'm guessing he didn't get my speed because I was down to the speed limit as soon as I got into trafic.

BTW the officer was very nice and explained how the Highway Patrol computer system works as he was handing me my warning. He didn't even give me a lecture.

I thought for sure someone here was going to drive by during the whole scene and I would have to read about it.

Hahaha...You should have said Indy 500. If it had been me(no wife and a sedan), it would have been a ticket!

Glad you only received a warning.;)

Melissa didn't seem amused until later as she was recounting the story to Derek along with a long disclaimer about speeding away from the race track.

It's probably a good idea that you didn't have your typical stunna gear on -- ie, sidewayZ cap (w/flat brim), size XXXXXXXXXXXL Atlanta Falcons Jersey, and Phat Pharm jeans (size XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXL).

Otherwise that cop would've totally ticketed you because he'd be jealous.

That is EXACTLY what I was wearing when I got my "Improper usage of a carpool lane" ticket!

Maybe I should tone it down a bit...size xxxxxxl instead!? Change my JerzAy to a Vikings one so that he thinks I'm 'down wit' it.'

Or, maybe if I was just a little older...hmmm.

u must be white.....i got a speeding tkt on 694 W going 3 miles over the freaking limit.

The moron officer said it was a construction zone.
There was not a living thing in sight for 2 miles and it was NOT a construction zone. I had left the construction zone 2 miles back.

The asswipe was behind me for 6 miles and i knew it but i figured going a few over the limit would be fine (few = 2 or 3mph) with him. Afterall noone can keep their foot that steady on a pedal. Unfortunately for me it was the 28th end of the month and i think the a. hole was just looking for an easy mark. I hope his mother dies!

Wow, way to blow your credibility out the window....Congrats!

It all depends on the cop pulling you over and how much of an asshat you are when they approach the vehicle.

You had me for awhile then boom!! Get a grip 3 over is something that anyone who shows up at court would have thrown out. And yes your attitude makes all the difference.

Speedo error is good for at least 5 over, although depending on the area school zone etc...

BTW I once got out of a 100mph + ticket by pulling over and waiting for the cop to turn around and come back. At the time I had racing leathers on with a ponytail (yes I had hair then), and an couple of piercings. Oh yea number plates still on the bike. RZ 350 Kenny Roberts edition with Clipons full fairing kit rear sets etc....

It helps that I am over 40 pulled over and addressed the officer with yes sir, no sir and admited my error. Oh yeah a clean record for the last 15 years probably helped out as well.

I was actually very polite to him. I had my laptop in the front seat and my pda right next to it with my work access card. I wasnt talking on the handy or being obnoxious in any other way. I am a professional and treated the 'representative of the law' with the respect that a citizen should.

I wasnt wearing a xxxl hat or a falcons jacket but a dress shirt and pants. I dont have any excessively dark tints or loud exhaust and my last tkt was like 2 years ago in eau claire.
But it just didnt matter to him. He just wanted to issue a tkt. at 9am during commute time when traffic flow is go-crawl-crawl-go

Dont jump the gun in blaming me or my attitude. Trust me, i was very polite to him throughout and thats the reason why i am even more pissed now. In retrospect, i would've been a jerk and the at least i would have gotten some satisfaction with knowing i treated him like ****.

My taxes pay for his salary and I am an attentive and considerate driver, but he'd rather ticket me during commute hours than someone drivng a raggidy vehicle w/o insurance or some lady blabbing on the phone driving inattentively or some hick with a 2 ton pickup going 45mph in a 55 zone.

Yes life's unfair and yes i will DEAL WITH IT...doesnt mean i cant vent about it.
I was there when some moron officer yelled all of you out of Firestone lot last summer and yelled at bikerboy and who else for absolutely no reason and threatened to tkt and impound all present. I know there are all kinds of cops, my bad luck i got one of those panzees this last time

No, I didn't. But i volunteered you for it Nate. He now knows a mieneke where an aussie stud will gladly perform custom pipe jobs for a little cash on the side :)

Its time u step out of the closet mate. Don't worry people on this forum arent homophobic, they'll accept you for who you are....after all this is a subaru community. We dont exclude the forrester drivers either, now do we?!

Whats worse are the ridiculous prices of these fines issues
Yet the bridges are breaking and the freeways are over-crowded and jammed (all of them 494, 94, 694, 35) with cracks and holes galore.
During summer through the beginning of winter there is traffic because of construction, During winter there is traffic because of plows and accidents. The on ramps are poorly designed and cause major issues because the majority of drivers cant seem to grasp the simple concept of 'go or let go'.

wheretf is my tax money going?
The state govt. should leave the roads and spend the money on an underground commuter rail system, i'll take that to work and back and enjoy the subie on the wk ends

^From the attitude in your posts I would have to say you deserved the ticket. I have gotten a couple ticket (in fact I'm looking at my latest right now) and far to many warnings (Dave!) but the thing is if I'm caught speeding, I'm caught speeding. Theres no if and or buts about it I was caught, you were caught. It's sounds like money is no big deal to you so pay the ticket and end the rant. It's not like us white folks haven't received are fair share of tickets, a fair share of us run the risk everyday just driving around.

Great story Mike you got off so lucky!

everyone has bad or good run ins.... its the way the cookie crumbles... lets not make this a race issue... you dont see whiteys saying ooh that officer who was black/asian/ red pulled me over cause I am a whitey... and if you hear any of us doing that they are usually the trailer trash rednecks wanting an excuse to be racist... besides he probably saw the stuff on your seat and thought you STOLE it... ha ha

Yeah, I had a good venting awhile back about a cop that issued me a parking ticket when I ran in to get quarters for the meter once. I said to him that I ran in for change and he could see that I had it in my hand. But he just basically said, "tough luck", finished writing the ticket and left. I was really pissed b/c I had full intentions of paying for the parking spot. I just didn't have change.

Thankfully, the last couple of "run-ins" have been very nice officers.

I say "Vent away bro, let it out!"

i'm actually kidding with the race thing. Idiots come in all sizes colors and kinds and we all know that :)

My point is , that considering my polite behaviour with him and the menial offense, that officer should've let me go. If tables were turned, I wouldnt even have bothered pulling him over for going 3 over in the 1st place.
