After much deliberation, I ordered a TXS Stealthback yesterday. I was going to get the Helix downpipe but the wait is worse for that than a damn kidney. I have an uppipe that will be installed at the same time. I'm "hiring" my neighbor to install them for me (with my help). He's just an acquaintance of mine (I wouldn't call him a friend) who does alignment work, etc...on the side. He has a mini-lift in his garage on which the work will be done. How long will it take to install and how much should I pay him? Also, are there any other parts I'm going to want before starting? The last thing I want is to get everything off and find out I don't have what we need to complete the job. When the job is complete, I'm assuming I should load the stage 2 map prior to starting the car?
you cant go stage 2 unless you have a down pipe and tbe, and it does take alot of work installing a down pipe, i would charge 150.00. which is very little for all that work. for some one who is experinced it shouldn't take more than 4hrs, it took me about 5hrs to do mine.
We're actually going to be installing up, down and mid pipes. I know I need the down pipe for stage 2. I'm wondering if it's necessary to make sure the stage 2 map is installed before starting the car, post install? In other words, if I start the car afterwards (it's currently stage 1) without installing the stage 2 map, will it be dangerous to my car?
^^^^^No. all it is basically doing is altering the boost tables and a little bit of the timing. You will be fine. You don't even need engine management to run those mods. If you want the full potential of the mods, then you will want to make sure that the sgt2 map is installed. Russ
TBE = starts from the turbo and it includes the downpipe, mid-pipe and axle back. just incase someone goes and buys a downpipe and TBE.
