I've got an 05 WRX that I just bought that happens to have a salvage title. I'm just wondering if there's anyway of telling if the engine in it is original...serial number? VIN number? something? The guy I bought it from said it was in a front end collision and there isn't any reason think otherwise, I just want to make sure before I start throwing mods on it...thanks guys

I would like to know....because my engine isn't the same one either. It's still a 2.2L, but I would like to know because from research, it looks like the engine came out of a 91-94 Legacy Turbo.

Where are the serial numbers?? I know I see some on TOP of the block where the block meets the tranny.

yeah, I wasn't around when my buddy bought his wrx from wmc but aside from fixing a few things, mainly just cosmetic, there hasn't been any problems. the paint looks good there were just seat brackets that needed tightening after a while and the dome light that came loose. from what the threads were saying, I'm glad everyone's putting the red flag out to save someone a headache...Taras, what is your horror story? sorry if this post is off topic...just curious

BTW, one of my friends that lived in the area where wmc is told me they had a something about a lawsuit against wmc being brought up. Apparently a few people are suing him.
