terrible news i crashed my car on Saturday night, drove over a median with a curb and wrecked both my front rims and popped both front tires as well as apparently bent my cross member and control arms. :ugh: i just got an estimate today (hyland autostar ) for 3300 (resonable?) and am going to claim insurance on it. my question is can i claim insurance yet somehow buy 4 new wheels off the site? (preferably blacked out ones instead of stock ones) luckily theres no engine damage or body damage. cuz of this i'm going to have to wait to put on the catback (Thanks Boomer!) untell i get some money / jackstands / membership / bolts and gaskets. your guys advice would be greatly appreciated
maybe If the insurance company cuts you a check. You basically got free rein on what you buy... don't know if 3300 is reasonable without seeing the damage.... what you do with the money... is your business...
^^ what he said. When I hit the deer in Feb or so, the insurance company tried like hell to get me to have the work done through them, but with our discount at minnetonka, you can save a lot of money by getting the parts and having someone else install them. They ended up cutting me a check and I got the car fixed for almost 1000 less than what the check was for.
scoobypwnz201 isnt far from the truth! i had a hot blond girl next to me when it happened, i was driving home from a b day party and had only 3 drinks in me (i felt sober), while talking to her and fooling with the stereo i went straight when i should have turned. i was to distracted to say the least. i'm going to blame her for this one, for wearing short shorts and a tank top. :yumyum:
yeah, sounds like this is a lesson for you. 3 drinks? 3 vodka drinks? If you had 10 drinks you would probably feel sober as well. Back to the topic. Get a high estimate through your insurance and get them to just give you a check. Go buy the parts. If the car is not very new buy used parts and install them yourself. This will result in: 1. Pocket some money 2)get parts you really want 3) know the work was done right 4) get raped by your insurance company jacking up your premium. Good luck, T
Good advice here, if your up for the work go for it! Sucks to hear about your car too, gotta be more careful I guess.
