My car (97 legacy gt) started overheating the other day when i drove for a while, i changed the coolant and it still overheated the next day, then i changed the thermostat, and problem happened again. Does anyone know what it could be?
Ive seen a couple subies on road with smoke barreling out of their hoods before, is there anything notorious with subarus that i should know about?

Are you losing coolant somewhere? It could be a leak. Check to see if any coolant made it past the heads into the oilpan.

Check the radiator cap......might be broken.
It can cause overheating as well. I've had it happen to me.....and I did everything......until I finally changed the cap.

thanks for the input everyone, it turns out that when i drained the coolant, i didnt get all the air out so it was like half air and half coolant, im good to go now though!
FYI i already did my HG's about 20,000 ago.

yes... anytime you drain and fill you need to BURP the system... run it and watch the coolant level.... when bubbles stop bubbling you should have it.. I would buy the container/funnel assembly that screws to the radiator... that is the best way

yup. it needs to burp. When I did the headgaskets on a 98RS, I figured that he'd know how to put in new radiator fluid. actually he didn't....so...it overheated. We pored water into it and let it burp when we were out and about at the gas station. The next day we drained it all out and put in new fluid, to which I had to burp the system. *sigh*
