    Hey guys,

My 2010 STI is giving me a P2442 code of secondary intake valve stuck open on bank 1.

I reset it twice now in the last couple of days with my AP. In researching, sounds like a pretty common problem and is spendy to repair at the dealer ($1000 or more). I have 67,000 miles on it running a Cobb Stage 1 map.

In researching, it looks like some people have just removed the air pump and installed block off plates and tuned the codes out. Not sure if this is a good permanent fix. Anyone else experience this or have ideas on how to fix long term without having to pay the dealership to install the same part that will fail again down the line?

Download the accesstuner race software from the cobb website (free) and edit the map you are using to permanently delete that code.
Not hard and will be free.

Awesome, thanks. No long term problems with leaving equipment as is by just simply deleting the code permanently? I read something about this possibly doing damage by hot gasses melting hoses, etc.

I cant remember if my code was for that valve stuck open or closed but I have been fine running it for years with just deleting the code and I am at significantly higher than stock power.
Never did the tgv deletes and just removed the pump.

So you did remove the pump?

Sounds to me like if they valves are stuck closed, deleting it would be okay. If they are stuck open, that's when you can get some heat coming back in doing damage. Mine is stuck open unfortunately.

These would be the delete plates: http://www.kstech.biz/servlet/the-213/air-pump-delete-block/Detail

I removed the pump and all the hoses, used these plates, and had the codes deleted. No issues since. But it will be helpful to remember this mod if you ever sell the car, unmarry the accessport, etc.

PS - don't forget to cut off the one sensor and reattach it...there's a writeup about it somewhere. Otherwise your ecu will read the atmospheric pressure incorrectly.

Thanks for the link. This is starting to get a bit complex. I may have to contact NF or RS Motors to help me out.

Talked to Matt at RS Motors and looks like we are going to do the removal of the whole air pump system and have the codes flashed out to permanently fix this.

Sounds good. On mine it was easy to just remove the pump and plug the hole and leave the valves but yours has the atm pressure sensor in the pump or something dumb.

I think you're right. Thanks for the input though.
