I was wondering if anyone knew where a member could find some spray on paint that would match the stock silver? Is there a paint code number or a location people have gone to get matching paint? I'm picking up some parts I want to paint to match and the silver I have right now doesn't really match the silver on my Scuby. Help?...

the color code should be listed n the little metal plaque on the driver side strut tower.

i needed some custom paint mixed and put into a spray can last winter. i got it from Welle auto supply. they mix it on the spot. it was kinda pricey but it turned out fairly well.

May I ask as to how much it cost you? In other words, what do you consider pricy?

ok, I just got off the phone with Welle Paint and they can make a spray can for $18. My question though, there are two paint codes (that they had). There was a 19X or a 1G. I have a 1G in my title, so I believe that is the color I need. However, they can't put the 1G in a spray can but they can put the 19X. How much of a difference is there between the two colors of Silver? Keeping in mind the car is now 4 years old. Anyone?

yeah it was about $18 for me too. seems kinda pricey for some spray paint. i am not sure about your paint code i know the one for my car was 3 digits. you could try calling the dealership and asking what the oficail paint code is.

sorry i cant be of more help. good luck

Well, I called Morrie's and the parts department transferred me over to their body shop. When I talked to the body shop, they didn't think it would be a 'sore thumb' if I used one paint code over another. I did learn that my actual code is 1G, which is also the same color that Welle's can't put in a can. They can put the other silver in a can though.

I went over to Welle Paint Supply last night in Coon Rapids and one of the clerks there, an older guy was really cool to work with. Not only did he listen to what I was planning, he went through and made recommendations on paints to use, cleaners and chemicals to use for prep and answered all the questions I had. I did end up with a nice bag full of paint for everything I'm planning but in the end, it was a nice experience at a new shop! Thanks for the recommendation and I too recommend this place to anyone thinking about painting.
