I have seen some stuff about part time supercharged motors recently and i was wondering how do they tune them. since the supercharger is part time they cannot run a single map/tune for boost. On some of the newer cars i can see how activting the S/C you can also have it dialed in to change maps, but how do they work this on carbuerated cars where there isnt really a EM system? i suppose this question just dials down to how do you tune a carburated car for part time boost?
somthing that basicly controlls timing and fuel when it knows the s/c is on...so basicly somthing really high tech, ......but for carb its gonna run like poo when its not on boost, there is no way to controll it, maybe timing because of vaccume advance, but most def not fueling
yeah on a fuel injected car you can just wire in a map change when you activate the s/c, kinda like wiring the activatation switch to also swicth maps on a utec or something. i just have no clue how a tune would work on a carbed engine. do you need a special type of carb or something?
I really see no way of doing it. The carb is fueling based on the jets, Its a physical component. There's no way they can be changed while a car is running. Its kind of like trying to change spark plugs while any car is running, its just won't happen. I can't think of any situation where you could change the fueling map mid-run on a carbed engine.
For a carbed engine you could run 2 two barrel carbs and have one setup for off boost and one setup to come in when on boost. Maybe?
