Parting out 2002 Subaru Impreza TS

12/4/2011 - Most of the car went for scrap metal a few weeks ago. I still have a few odds and ends and most of the interior. The rest of it got melted down.


I picked up a donar car (2002 Impreza TS wagon, auto, 2.5L) for some body parts and other front end components after I hit a deer with my wife's car. I am parting out the rest of the TS. This vehicle had 226,000 miles on it when the timing belt broke and the owner sent it to the salvage yard. The blue car in the photos is the donar car. Green car is my wife's that is all put back together and on the road now.

Pieces already missing because they are on my wife's car:
Drivers side front fender
Grille
Both headlights
Hood
Radiator
Condenser
Alternator
Cooling fans
If it is in the pile of scrap photo it is not avaiable

I am thinking about keeping for my son's vehicle I am building:
Steering column
Steering rack
Gas pedal

A few other things:

Timing belt was not changed and had snapped on this vehicle. I pulled the heads and at least two cylinders have bent valves. Pistons looked good. The engine is rebuildable but not a runner. Minimum would be head rebuilds but it looks like it was burning oil too so rebuilding the whole engine would be a good idea. Again 226,000 miles. Cross hatch was still visible on the cylinder walls. Open deck 2.5L

Passengers side rear door has some damage along with that rear quarter. Door is probably repairable. If someone wants that door I will post pics.




Let me know what you need and I will try and post a picture and a price for the part. If you need anything from a sensor to the whole wiring harness or a seat to the carpet or whole interiror let me know. Just about anything from the car is available. The next post is where I will list all parts and pricing as people ask for things.

Hey John. Ya super busy with work, family, and training (plus having been a bit burned out on this place after being a moderator).

Well you inspired me to finish stripping the car. Rear diff is out now. I was looking on car-parts to see pricing and I am figuring $150 seems reasonable. What do you think? Cheapest I saw with a listed price for an auto was $300.

Is there anyway you would or would let my boss and I cut up the pass side rear qaurter. Mine is starting to get real bad. (rust) I need the part right behind the pass back door all the way up the wheel well. Thanks. Steve

 

I am glad to hear that someone would want parts out of the shell. Sorry to say the only damage on the shell that I saw was the passengers side right behind the rear door and in that passenger foot well. Not sure if you want the quarter from this car. Depends on what you need for your car. Let me know.

The car is now 99.9% stripped. It was a LONG day yesterday getting it all out of there. See photos. I have cutting wheels, sawzaw, plasma cutter, and torch. I can get whatever someone needs out of the shell. If you want to give me a marked up photo of the area showing exactly what you need..... or if you want to come out to Buffalo we will get it done.

Do you still have the front seats?

 

Yes I still have the seats. $120 for pair or $65 a piece. What you see is fresh from the car. I have not tried cleaning them up yet. They look pretty good to me.

If anyone wants to stop out I am in the garage today and tomorrow working on the car/cleaning up/ and doing oil changes on my vehicles.

 

Car is out of the garage. Just need to remove the glass.


If anyone wants anything from the shell or any of the major metal pieces let me know soon or they are going to the recyclers.

All the parts (trim and cross bars) or just the two rails?

I'm looking for both rear knuckles/hubs/brakes/calipers and emergency brake lines... pretty much everything to swap my 2000 OBS drum brakes.

I'm not 100% certain it'll fit, but I'm willing to give it a whirl.

I need a glove box or maybe just the locking mechanism since my latch broke. Is it available and how much $$ ???

 

I could sell you the whole glove box with the panel for $20 or just the latch for $10.

I will look at it tonight. I don't remember. I know that the release on the outside is not currently working but other than that I will have to look.

 

It has some scratches at the top but no dents that I saw. The interior panel is off but I believe that I have it in the pile of intior parts. I will try and get a photo.

I do not know. I purchased it from a salvage yard for the front end body components and radiator. Had 200,000+ on it.

 

I'm looking for an exhaust system from the Headers to the cat back or all the way to the muffler. Let me know if you still have it available. Thanks.

 

I have the exhaust. I believe it is all in pretty good shape but let me look it over sometime today or tonight to be sure.

Exhaust seems to be in good shape. No holes or thin spots that I could find. I did not remove any of the heat shields.
