Anyone out there a Live for Speed player? http://www.liveforspeed.net There is a demo available on the website if you've never played... and it has enough content to keep you busy for along time without purchasing. Arguably one of the best race sims out there. (I know, everyone has their favorites, but I LOVE this one) It can be played with a keyboard and mouse (quite well, in fact) but you really want a wheel and pedals to be fully competitive. I run a server for this, called Land of 10,000 Lakes. You can look me up in the server browser or join directly by typing in that name on the join screen. If anyone wants to join, I will be in with a friend for awhile tonight. If anyone expresses interest that picks up the demo, let me know and I'll switch the server over to demo mode!
Some of the AutoXers were getting into it last year... http://forum.mnautox.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4521. I tried it out and found it to be a disconcertingly accurate physics model, but it lacks some of the flashiness of the more popular games. That's not a bad thing by the way, as you won't have much time to be staring at the scenery anyway. Stuart.
I play GTR2. My buddy is trying to get me to pick up rFactor, as well. Ripping around the 'Ring in a G2 class M3 or NGT Ferrari 360GTC is a blast! All of the sims are light years ahead of the GT series (and also harder).
I am going to give GTR2 a shot tonight. I've heard great things about it. Have yet to try rFactor as well. Have you tried LFS? The graphics aren't exactly cutting edge, but man is it realistic. Each and every car just feels perfectly like you would think it should, from the little hatchbacks on up to the BMW/Sauber F1 car.
