Cars have been a hobby of mine for years! i've owned a few high power DD but decided to sell them all after my first baby.

With 2 Suv already in our household we decided to go with a Wagon. We looked at the A4/A6 avants but decided to go with a 2006 Wrx Wagon Limited edition (Auto) :( for the price/maintenance reasons.

I know for a fact i will not be able to keep this car stock! Im going with a simple setup. nothing crazy.
can anyone recommend a simple setup? Stage II?

First off welcome to MNSubaru.com! The best bang for your buck is going to be a aftermarket down-pipe and a cat back exhaust, along with a tune. This will yield you some very nice HP gains. We have some great tuners on the site here, NF Performance and RS Motors are the two that I would suggest. Let me know if you have any question, or post it up in here and we will do the best to point you in the right direction.

Thanks for the reply steve! I actually dont think i can go with a downpipe due to the gas smell. This car will be my DD and baby hauler. I dont want her smelling the fumes.

There are aftermarket dp's that are catted and flow better than stock.

Welcome to the forum! Is the car completely stock now? If you want some decent power gains, you'll need to remove the restrictions of the exhaust. Also, i never really had any issue with the gas smells in the car with my catless setup. During the summer, with the windows down, it was slightly noticable.

Stock is about 170 whp. Do the below modifications, and you'll see 220-230 whp.
1.)Hi-flow catted aftermarket exhaust in 2.5-3''.(the noise in the wagon may be noticable to you and your daughter, highway drone in wagons is slightly worse than sedans). ($200...used to about $1000 new.)
2.)Non catted up pipe. Shouldn't be noticable(smell or noise). (Should be able to find for about $40-100)
3.)Aftermarket BCS(boost control selenoid) Ex...Grimmspeed. My buddy has an AEM 3 port that he's trying to get rid of for cheap. Contact me in PM's if you're interested. (New is about $100, used around $40-60.)
4.)Walboro 255L (or similar brand) fuel pump. Your engine will thank you when you go stage 2 and add this. Better fuel flow makes engines happy. (About $100 new)
5.)Get a quality tune form NF Performance or RS Motors. (Approximately $100-300)
6.)**Optional** Have your stock injectors modified! They'll flow alot better allowing your tuner to push the power a little further.(May be able to get closer to 240/250 whp with this mod added. ($200-ish)
7.)Enjoy your extra 50-60 whp! Stage 2 feels great after running stock for awhile!

    Hope this helps ya!

IMO the best mod considering your current situation would be:

    1. Great tires/ A. Summer B. Winters
    2. Great Brake pads/Fluids
    3. Car Control Clinic - investing in yourself.

You'll find that your whole family will benefit and will enjoy driving around with confidence.

The best mod is in the driver. :smoke:

Like what everyone else said, but if a louder exhaust isn't part of the plan for your family/baby, I suggest installing a quality aftermarket downpipe mated to the stock exhaust. That's my setup as I too have a young one and I like listening to music while I drive. The performance gained from stock is still like night and day but the decibel levels stays close to OEM. However, doing this will need you to pick up a Grimmspeed downpipe-to-stock-catback adapter to minimize chances of an exhaust leak.

Welcome to Mnsubaru! Do a custom tune and what Musashi says. Cheap and when you get bored with that do the others.

Maybe a rear antiroll bar. My first mod after good tires.

Nope, you don't need anything for a custom tune. That's the beauty of an opensource tune...no expensive accesport needed!
