Please HELP...UPDATE: PROBLEM FOUND If anyone has had any experince with the car not starting can u please tell me the cause... My car (02WRX) is not starting it's cranking perfectally but will not spark...PLEASE HLEP.... Just state all your expecenices and causes of your car not starting...Thanks alot... Mo
Bought and changed crank sensor yesterday, and how do I check if the fuel pump is working...also I did my spark plugs last thursday and ran fine after that..and the car stoped running on monday...
Could be fouled plugs. I ran into that issue with my grand prix back in February when it was -30 out.
They will be caked in grey or black crap on the spark element. And if you turn the key to the 3rd position (not all the way over) you should hear it buzzing in the back seat, passenger side.
mo its somthing to do with the crank sensor, you failed to mention that it keeps throwing the crank sensor code, im betting ECU, brian is looking for solutions right now
On Monday Brian came over and did my timing belt, altonater belt, powersterring belt and we replaced the oil pump seal....thats all we did while he was there...but we did not try it at all...after he left I did an oil change and then test drove it and it was PERFECT comoing out of the drive wa but two blocks later at a turn I lost power sterring and my car shut off...now it cranks but won't spark to turn on....
yes...it did throw that code...I will check the fuess and look for the sound of the fuel pump.... JUST TO MAKE IT 100% CLEAR I DO NOT BLAME ANYTHING AT ALL ON BRIAN...I BELIEVE HIS WORK WAS PERFECT...I AM VERY THANKFUL TO HIM......MY CAR GOING BAD ON THE SAME DAY AS WE DID THE TIMING BELT I BELIEVE IT WAS JUST A COUNCIDENCE....i WOULD RECOMEND BRIAN TO ANYONE ANYDAY...VERY NICE GUY BTW...AND VERY KNOWAGLEBLE....
Also a very important point I want to take ur guys's adivce on is that my boss browed my car on SUNDAY before we did everything...and he put like $10 worth of gas in it...I made it very clear to him that it take ONLY premuim but I know he's cheap so I think he put somthing different...so do u guys think that will affact at all....my only trips after he put that gas was home and then to my friends where we did all the work...I was thinkin of pumping it out and putting some primum in it wat do u guys think...Plus doing all the suggestions above...I am about to head to my friends in a bit....
Ok so some cliff notes to know that I have all the facts straight. Thursday: you changed plugs and the car drove fine after. Sunday: you borrowed your car to someone who you think put 87 in it but it still drove fine. Monday: Brian did a T-belt replacement then left with out starting the car. Then you did an oil change. And when done you took it for a test drive and it shut off. Then the car had a code for crank sensor. Wednesday: You replaced the CAS and the car still does not run. Is this correct? Did you reset the ECU after you put the new CAS in? Does the car still have the same code after you reset the ECU?
Yes all wat u mention is correct Matt....and yes I did take off the battery and reconnected it...I believe that brian cleared it for me...in about a half an hour i'll be in the garage with my labtop so i'll keep u guys posted as I do things...THANKS SO MUCH TO EVERYONE... If there is anything els I could try just let me know...
Ok so that answers those questions. IMHO it is all to coincidental to say it is a fuel pump. You can certainly verify that when you are in the garage with the directions Jason gave you.
Pull the fuel line at the fuel filter. That will tell you right away if you are getting fuel or not. Do you have any kinda of engine management?? Russ
ok I am in the garage right now...and there is a sound in the back of the car...which I guess means that the fuel pump is working...but I'll try and disconnect the fuel filter....and the answer to the engine management is no I don't have a anything for engine management...
Problem Found SO were done for today were off to next monday or whenever we get the part.... The PROBLEM IS.....A TOOTH BROKE OFF OF THE CRANK SPROCKET.... Again thanks everyone and i'll keep u all updated
if it will help him fix his car you should say something now, not after he spends hours trying to find the problem...
wow, just wow, i can read between the lines with this one, all previous respect has been lost officially. 02 sensor comes to mind.
Were just awainting the arravial of a new crank sprocket cause no one around had one...then we'll go from there...So we will resume working on the car possibley tuesday...Stay tune for more information...... Once again...Big THANKS goes out to Brian for all the Help...But Also a big thanks for all the useful and informative info from everyone... MOH
Well the car is FIXED...It is up and running again...Big thanks to all for all your input on this issue...and even a bigger thanks for Brian for his help....It was what we thought the Crank sprocket...I just would like to know how the HELL did I break it in anyway...Well anyways...life is good now... Moh
Now that this is Over...Matt can I ask you wat was honstally your thought about this issue...By ur thought I am basically asking if u had any techincal explanation for what happened with my car... moh
Tell me about it...Brian said I might of drop the gears or somthing like that way to hard...and I am not going to deny such things...LOL...I drive my car really hard for someone who is completely STOCK... Moh
I can't think of how that would break from driving, those teeth should never come in contact with anything. It seems more likely that gear may have been damaged when it was taken off to change the oil pump seal. But it doesn't look damaged from the pic, I don't see any marks or scratches on it. It could also have been a mfg defect in the part... It's odd that only ONE tooth broke off.
