Well, I have been tring to pick out a weekend to head down to chicago to hang out with Jorge and stuff, and I think I have come up with the weekend of Aug 5-7. There is also a formula D Drift event going on http://www.formulad.com/. I thought it would be kinda cool to drive down, go to there weekly meet and than Sat afternoon go watch some pro's do some drifting. I have seen the team falken guys, and it is amazing the car control they have. Lets try and get this going. If we want to make it to the chicago meet we would need to leave Thurday morning (their meets are thursday nights). I know they have scaled their meets back a bit, but they usually have 50+ cars show up (not 3 like us). Lets see a show of hands on who is interested in going. Russ

I'd be intersted! but that's the weekend of the Midwest Subaru Meet in Iowa (mostly old-school guys, lifted rigs etc.) through UltimateSubaru.net! so I'm out that weekend

Talked to teh wife today. She is gone that weekend so it is definately on. I'll be the camera car. I have a tripod setup for the backseat and I can make a front seat bracket to hold another. If anyone has video cameras, I am down for setting them up and filming the driving portion of the weekend.
I just have to say russ it's very good of how much time u are giving people to know about this event. Put me down as maby with my car, but 100% if I can tag alonge with someone :lol:
Well, if someone wants to start doing some reseach on hotels. Remeber we want to stay in the burbs (schaumburg, glendale heights, etc). What we will di is take the metra train into downtown for the formula d event. I will get ahold of Jorge to also hunt down some local hotels. Russ
We can split rooms. It would keep the cost down. And if we could, lets try to get a place with in-room wifi broadband internet.
If we go 4 to a room...the Hilton Garden Inn is 20 bucks per person/per night. I have stayed there many times and it is a great hotel. (I do alot of business travel) The rooms are pretty big and the amenities are nice. There is wireless internet in the rooms for uploading movies and pics. Formula D tickets are 20 bucks if you buy them now. 25 day of hte event....SO........... Lets get an official list of who is down for this. You can buy your own ticket to Formula D, but we will need to pay for the hotels up front. I am sure with Formula D in town and the fact that it is Chicago and near O'Hare, we will want to pre-pay for these rooms in advance. Is everyone ok with 4 people to a room...yes, that means a couple of you are either going to get cozy with another man, or you are going to sleep on the floor. Or you can pay 40 bucks a night and get 2 peeps to a room. I am just trying to keep the costs down so that this is accessable to everyone. So, lets get a list of names. LETS GET THE BALL ROLLING! Who is in this? I want to know who is going. The day of the trip is fast approaching and we need names of confirmed members that wish to go. Personally, I am in. So I am gussing we are leaving Thursday Morning of Aug 4th. I just looked at the ticket prices for the F-Drift event and there only 20$ so once we are 100% sure we are going I will buy one, also I am expecting that sharing a room and paying 20$ deal at hotal so that's about 40$-60$ depending on if we are heading out right after the drift event which ends at 10pm, or spending another night. Correct me if I am wrong about any of this, now if prices go up then I might have to think twice about this but so far this sounds great, now I have no clue where we would be staying so if anyone can find more info that would be great...
I am in for sure. Mark me down as having 2 people and I will need my own room. As for leaving and such, I though we could meet up at the SA on Whitebear and 94 so everyone can top off before we hit the freeway. As for the return trip I figured tht we would just leave Sunday morning and head back. I am also think about leaving around 6-7 am thursday morning. Lets get this going. Russ

Hey guys, I am extremly sorry to pull out like this, but I am having some serious financale problems that have just decressed my chances of going to like 50%, SO DON'T COUNT ON ME...
When you guys get in town on thursday you should come to the thursday night suby meet. Look in the midwest section of nasioc and look for "bella's post" or the weekly post whore post. All the info (directions and whatnot) should be in there. I'm pretty positive I'm going to the drifting event so I'll see you guys around. Look for a tall kid with curly hair and glasses, I'll probably have a black t-shirt with an outline of a RS on it.
I am trying not to back out. I am having a hard time getting vacation off for that Thursday and Friday.
how about you all stop crying and instead of spending money on this we should all spend money on jorge coming back for another tuning day in like september or somthin.
We could do that but we would be looking at 450.00+ per person again. Im more thatn down for this if we can get people to commit to it.
i would like to be interested but for that kind of money and my setup i'm not sure if it would be worth it, i'd have to talk to jorge and see what he thinks an accessport stage 2 plus up pipe setup could gain from this... jorge are you still reading?
If there is still interest in this I would be down to go. Got no work that weekend and have cleared it with the rents. Might even stay a extra day or two to explore my new school and campus (DePaul). Count me in if this is still going on.
