Ignore the prices, those are RETAIL PRICES for reference. The car is damaged on the drivers side exterior. Wheels, all side panels are destroyed. Hood and wingless trunk are good. Color WRB.

I'm 99% sure the car will be totaled and I need to know what is the amount I should be willing to pay to keep the car. I will NOT be pulling parts for my personal use. I would be selling the WHOLE car only. The 6 speed swap is obviously the most valuable item. NEED ADVICE AS TO A REALISTIC PRICE THAT WOULD GET THIS CAR SOLD OFF MY PROPERTY ASAP!

ENGINE: 180k miles (made 400hp on E85, but it a stock engine, not worth much)
Downpipe catless (brand name to be determined) $250
    Cobb catback $700
    Grimmspeed catless uppipe $200
    Injector dynamics 850cc injectors $500
    SPT intake $200
    Walboro 255 fuel pump $90
    Grimmspeed radiator shroud $60
    Grimmspeed alternator shroud $70
    Kinugowa TD05 18G 53mm trim turbo (twin scroll!?) $1000
    -GS TMIC w/thermal coating $625
    -GS ext wastegate $285
    -Turbosmart ext wg bov $350

I'm not sure what this thread is about, but let me know if you do end up buying it back and how much you want for the engine. I need an EJ205 somewhat soon. Good luck y0.

The buyback on mine after a flood in 2011 was $2,400. I'd say, if it's around that, I wouldn't hesitate to buy it back. $2-3k all day.

But the problem with that, is that you'd have to part it out to "make money". If you sell a thrashed WRX whole, you "might" find a buyer that wants the whole thing. GL!

    What happened is:
new tires + too low = rubbing
Rubbing x sharp fenders = sliced tire
Sliced tire + turn = destruction

I want to believe someone would buy the car for the 6 speed and use the rest to supplement the purchase.

Does insurance take mods of any sort into consideration for buyback?

Not really. I had a 2010 STi EJ257 with 10k on it in my car(along with about $7k in receipts). Buyback was still $2,400.

Someone would be stupid not to pick this up as a whole and just part it out. From the looks of it, damn near every part on that car would be a hot item.

Not sure what the whole pile is worth but that turbo isn't worth $1000, it wasn't even that much new. I got my Kinugawa 20G with billet wheel and all that for like $800 brand new.

My quick and dirty with BLOWOUT prices is about $4500 total
    Engine: $1800
    Trans 1500
    suspension/brakes 500
    interior 400
    etc 300

That would be stupid cheap prices including stock parts (like seats)

I feel like this picture have a parental advisory sticker attached. That's disturbing to look at. Poor thing. Can we donate 50 cents a day to help bring him back to health?

That one picture shows pretty much all the damage. The front looks ok, and the other side looks perfect. I'm really pissed about the headlights. Just spend $500 on custom HID projectors, BUT I still have the old ones, which are cleared and are in perfect condition.

That would make a good fixer upper for someone then! New fender(probably need some straightening behind the fender to make the new one fit right), bumper, and drivers doors. Then get the rear quarter fixed when you have some extra ching!

I agree. I'd much rather see this repaired and back on the road than have all the parts harvested from it.

Insurance company said they will consider fixing it as they know how much I've put into the car. I gave them the full list and pictures. They will be doing a spot estimate at my place. If they will consider fixing they will haul away for a full estimate. If they aren't going to fix they will pay out and give me the choice to buy and leave it where it sits or I'll give it up and they will haul away for good. I won't know anything until Thursday at the earliest I imagine.

Jesus christ, $5k? How much did they value that thing at?

I just bought back my brother-in-law's 2005 G35 from his insurance after they totaled it and it only cost $970 for buyback... and all it took for $900 in parts to fix it back up. They paid out $5800 on that car too.
$5k buyback for a 2003 wrx with that much damage seem cray cray.

I hope they are paying out well. It seems like they might be not valuing the modifications in pay out, but valuing them in their buy back price. I hope not, but they might be double dipping.

Their payout was fair in my opinion, but yes they definitely considered the value of the parts in their buyback.

I'm glad they payed you ok at least. My experience with insurance companies has suggested they tend to ignore any modifications unless you insure them separately.

That didn't happen. I guarantee that. My insurance company knew this was worth a lot of money and I'm sure they figured out how to get the most of it. With a buyback price of about $5500 they aren't going to crush that. I had a 1999 RS "totaled" by the same company years ago and it was sold locally shortly after that. Crazy enough one of my neighbor's friends even bought that RS and I came home one day to find it park right in front of my house! I thought I was dreaming. I'm willing to bet this car will either be sold locally as a whole, or parted out through some network.
