I am having porblems with my power steering and I just want to get a second opinion before I start spending money to fix it. Here's what's happening... At low rpm the power steering isn't doing anything to help me turn the tires. If I rev the engine up a bit, the power steering kicks in and things are easier. There aren't any wierd noises and the belt doesn't seem to be slipping. It is my assumption that the power steering pump went out and I need to get a new one. I think that's possible on my car, which is a 2002 wrx and has 75k on it. I found a power steering pump on Ebay for around $190. Anybody have any idea what they go for at the dealer? Let me know if you are thinking the same as me, power steering pump. If not, I am all ears. Thanks for the help. Try parallel parking a car without power steering sometime, wow.
Did that in my civic a few time, sucked donkey bawlz ask Shannon (shineynitelite), he just replaced his power steering *probably did too many spinouts LOL*
ever own a pre 1980s car? I've had quite a few with no power steering, you just have to let the car go a little bit first before cranking on the wheel.
yes, time for replacement. My steering is heavier.....that's because I have a quicker steering column.
It's one thing to have a car w/o power steering, it's another to try and turn a car that has power steering that doesn't work.
yeah its your power steering pump. if you want me to get it and put it in for you let me know, PM me preferably
yeah just watcht he vacuum solenoid thingo.. I cracked mine and it threw cels everyday... I plastic welded it and it is ok... but I blew mine up a tteh ice races... the 5 hr drive home was ok, but the slow speed driving sucked.. ha ha it could be a number of things... pressure valve etc etc.. it is almost cheaper just to throw a replacement pump at it and be done... its not too hard..
yeah i broke my valve solenoid dealy also, its pretty hard not to. i turned it off using openecu. i can definatly get it to you for cheaper than 190 though1
