    Hey guys.

I have my engine on a stand and last night I did the oil pan gasket so I spun the engine upside down. The power steering reservoir had been drained but apparently not completely and it started to drip. Then when i flipped the engine back after I finished RTV'ing the pan, some power steering fluid dripped onto my fresh timing belt.

It just dripped on the 2 sections of the belt, maybe and inch and a half in length.

I was pretty pissed when I saw it today since the belt is brand new and I just installed it. Im just wondering if I should get a new belt? Or will it be totally fine. Im just worried about slippage or oil degradation. Those worries may be invalid, not sure. Just looking for some advice!

If it was me I would clean the PS fluid off the belt with a little brake cleaner and dry it off and not worry about it. I doubt a short exposure to either the PS fluid or brake cleaner would cause significant deterioration to the rubber belt. However, prolonged exposure of rubber to petroleum products (such as a slow leak that went unnoticed over a long period of time) will undoubtedly cause an issue.
