So what do you do when you recieve a letter saying you have been pre-approved for a $10,000 credit card? All you have to do is sign your name on the printed paper and send the mail back. What do you think? Useful? or Bad Habit of Spending? Oh baby GT35R, we'll meet someday
don't do that. You'll mess up your credit with those things. Go to your bank and get one through them ... or go the sites (discover, visa, amex - no wait, avoid the amex) and get one that way. Never trust anything in the mail that says you're "pre-approved" - most of the time you're not. It's not like your full credit history is taken into consideration when these companies are soliciting your business. I hate those damn letters.
Those letters just make you restless huh? Go crazy for money. I do get one every week or so but never seen one for $10K
No, tuxy, I've just had jobs in the financial field - you learn pretty quickly what to accept and what to not
Now you're telling me, WellsFargo just made one for me with an annual fee. Supposively College Credit Card.
agreed.....I have never used a credit card for anything on my car...never never never! if i can't pay for it in cash or out of the bank account....then i can't afford it.
I have my cc through Wells Fargo with a fairly low interest rate (0% for the first year ) But am paying an annual fee to be in the rewards program with both my debit card and credit card. Since I never use cash, I will be bankin' on points!
yeah pre-approved offers are usually horrible cards my favorite is my chase freedom card, it pays me back 1% on everything, 3% on your top 3 categories, and save up $200 in rewards gets you $250 i get checks 3 to 4 times a year
It's a $19 annual fee...and I figure might as well get something for spending money. I plan on just cashing in my points for the money. I know other credit cards have the potential for better rewards, but what really won me over was the points for using the debit card. I never, ever use cash...
^^yup, I've piled the points and then when i needed extra cash in the checking account I cleaned out the points for money. I've done this a few times....by now a few hundred bucks at least.
Credit card s arent real money,,..... spend away, you can buy anything with them. its magical. lol If youve never had one dont, they are the devil! I hate money~ But paying them completely off is a nice feeling to
Same here... The only reason I have a credit card is to help boost my credit. If I had to rely on a credit card for stuff...I wouldn't have one.
shall we do a poll for how many credit cards everyone has? I bet I got more than a lot of you, which is a very very bad thing. I don't buy more than I can pay though.
To stop receiving unsolicited credit card and insurance mailings go to https://www.optoutprescreen.com/?rf=t. I did this and went from getting 1-3 creditcard application mailings per day to 3-4/year (which is from my college alumni association). Please don't ruin your credit, it's bad for all of us. look at the economy now - forclosures/bankruptcities = bad economy.
wallet stolen, wether with cash in it or with credit cards in it, still has you i.d. in it, either way your still ****ed.
I pay for EVERYTHIZNG on the Credit card.. mile mile miles.. as i have said before.. the amount we have spent over the last 7 years owning a business, personal expenditure and family having a CC from our account.. has paid for about 12+ airline tickets round trip to Australia and back or there to here and back.... But steve/dave/confuscious is correct... if you dont have the $$$ in the first place DONT use a CC.. just there are advantages to using the CC instead of cash... another is credit rating
our points system is for American Airlines.. every dollar spent is 1 dollar earned towards airfare.. issue is a ticket to Australia is about 75000 points now.. used to be 50000...
debt sucks. I would say to only use credit for emergencies. I am learning the hard way. don't take every offer that comes.
This^ 5% cash back on gas and groceries with 1.5% cash back on everything else. Why not use it. Pay it off at the end of the month and no yearly fee. Smartly build credit any time you can.
OK - there is a spotted thread for this sort of thing ... lets try to keep this thread on topic please.
I often think of this when I sort through the massive pile of crap mail we get. Jason's mother subscribed to every single thing under the sun, and when she passed, he forwarded her address - some companies still don't understand that she passed away over a year ago and still send us junk for her. It's awful. Like, if I miss the mail for 2 days, the box is full - and we have between 20 catalogs and 10 letters for her alone. Half of the letters are spam too. It's really sad.
You can also return all those offers with a label on the front "RETURN TO SENDER" and don't put new postage one. They'll get billed for the mail plus a handling fee, and trust me you get removed quickly from the pre-approved list when you start spending their money.
