I have an 04 wrx with a intake and a hks bov. I heard that when using the bov, it richens the mixture and can accumulate raw gas in the pre turbine cat and it could break up and end up going through my turbo. Any thoughts on that? Ive heard of a recirc kit and it is recommended to recirculate 50% to make up for some of the lost air. Is there something like that?

subie lords will say to ditch the bov and gut your up pipe or find a cheap one on ebay.

I would say keep the sweet soundsing ssq and gut the stock uppipe or get the flex ERZ uppipe off ebay.

Getting a catless uppipe just makes huge amounts of sense.

CUT THE CATS! CUT THEM ALL! Let the subie breathe and the humans shall suffer the emissions!

Am I right that the '04+ STi has only 2 cats, one in the mid pipe and one in the downpipe? I haven't looked at my up pipe to see if it is a straight shot.

Any of them will do the trick, installation trumps brand of pipe. Don't make it into a bigger production than it needs to be. Decide on what you're willing to spend and go from there. I would suggest getting an uppipe WITHOUT a bung for the stock EGT probe, then just do the resistor mod to prevent P0546.
