Hey, guys and girls! I am near-sighted and have had a pair of glasses that I am growing out of. I just got a new pair of frame-less eyeglasses from Visionworld for the frameless styling and other features. I also had my eye exam done there before the purchase. My pair of glasses came in today and I just picked it up from their store. I can see well through this pair, but for some odd reason, these glasses negatively affects my depth perception and gives me a headaches within seconds of wearing them: two problems that didn't happen on my last pair. I can still use my old pair of framed glasses today and see quite well in them so I figured there is something wrong with this pair. Did they prescribe me the wrong set of glasses? Is it too strong?

Anyone with prescription glasses that experienced the same thing? :(

they are probably a lil stronger and you just need to give it time to adjust to them

reminds of the joke about little Fongy playing with his pecker in the shower... his mum walks in on him and yells "Fongy stop that or you will go blind!!!"

Little Fongy replied... "Aaaaw mum cant I do it just till I need glasses??"

Paul and Martin, so you're saying that my depth perception will come back to me if I keep using this new pair? I don't think I even had to get used to my first pair. I guess you guys are right. I'll take them back tomorrow and see what information they can provide me with. Thanks!

i have the same problem every time i get a new prescription and new glasses. it can take up to a few days to adjust but by then you should feel normal. What's happening right now is perfectly ok and regular though.

How big was the change in your prescription? If your old prescription was understrength, you compensated by squinting without even noticing it. Now when your eyes try to compensate as they did before, you are getting a headache. It should go away after a day or two when your eyes adjust and learn to stop squinting.

That said, if you are still getting headaches after a week then you should go back in and demand another eye exam and have them check the glasses. If they are not ground properly you will experience headaches. In my experience, shops do make mistakes, and you should not have to put up with glasses that give you headaches.

If the shop refuses to help and you paid for the glasses with a credit card, consider instituting a chargeback. The cardholder always wins, and you will get your money back.

In the future, although I know this to be non-PC, consider Wal-Mart. They are the nation's largest provider and have the lowest prices, and based on their volume, they can't afford to have bad optometrists. I have heard no complaints from anybody who has gotten glasses there.

lol you couldn't pay me to wear the frames they sell at wal mart. Glasses are something that people see all day, they're a fashionable item (like it or not)

I know a lot of people who get glasses at walmart (my wife's family) and they have occasional problems like any other optometrist. I'd think the places selling $300 - $700 frames would have a lot more stake in their considerably smaller customer base than walmart would throwing out 2 for $100 glasses deals.

If you've got an astigmatism (sp?) (I do in both eyes) every time they change prescriptions you will notice a pulling sensation that messes with your vision. Keep wearing them, and popping Ibuprofen/Advil. It'll get better.

Give it at least a week, like previously stated.

That's a relief! I thought the prescription was too strong for me. As of now, it doesn't give me too much of a headache as it did last night, but walking alongside a wall looks like I'm going around the corner. The wall is bulging out at me in 3D!

Thanks, guys. I'll give it a week or so and if it doesn't get better, I'll head back for a revision to them. :D

That is the sensation that I get when going from my contacts to my glasses. Only lasts 5min for me, though.....

Hopefully you weren't squinting during the exam. That could throw off the results. Squinting changes the shape of your eyeball, hence better sight when squinting. I used to wear glasses. (until the 21st century - now doctors are equipped with lasers!) One time I had to return to the optometrist to get a different prescription. This was because of the same reason - headaches and such. The new prescription was not as strong. Unless the new prescription is drastically different, you should be able to adjust to it (without headaches) in a matter of a couple hours, not days.

^^I wonder if you are correct. With these glasses on, squinting doesn't do any good. Well, that probably means that I can see "better than 20/20" as how my optometrist said it.

I agree. Going from contacts to glasses is like wearing binoculars. It is a weird sensation.
