I am looking to put a nice (not necessarily professional quality, but quality) printer on my wedding registry. I am wanting one that does copying, printing, photos, scanning, and maybe even fax. I am registered at Target, which may not be the greatest place for these... I know I am surrounded by computer savvy people in here. Any suggestions would be helpful since I know little to nothing about this stuff. Brand preferences/un-preferences, what stats to look for and which of those may actually matter to me... yada, yada. Trying to keep it under $200. Here is a link to the 30 that are availiable: http://www.target.com/gp/browse.htm...ld-browse=12955191&rank=pmrank&size=16&page=1 thanks all, Matt
If you want an all-in-one, HP is the best choice. Nobody else does the all-in-one nearly as well. If you want really good photos, get the PhotoSmart version, but even the normal ones with photo cartridges do a decent job these days.
I have the Canon PIXMA MP500 and like it a lot for home use. The Canon PIXMA MP530 (Review on CNET): http://reviews.cnet.com/multifunction-devices/canon-pixma-mp530/4505-3181_7-31990796.html?tag=txt The 530 adds a fax and gets rid of the memory card slots (which are SUPER slow anyway) The print quality for photos is as good as any I've seen. You have to use good paper, Canon paper, but they look stellar. If you go with a MP500, you don't even need a comp to print your pics, can do it all right from the printers LCD screen. Just put your mem card in it and select what prints you want, even crop, and then print. The only bad thing is the scanner does kinda suck for scanning photos. But for less than $200 what do you expect. Print speed for text is also very fast. The last printer I had was an HP all in one and had nothing but problems with it. They even sent me a new one and it $hit the bed too. It's under my desk gathering dust.
