this is my latest toy, i picked it up for really cheap with the plans of just doing whatever i want to it and not caring what happens to it. i.e. ice racing and probably some rallycross, more or less all around a car to beat the crap out of it. the car; 95 impreza lx The plans; first auto to manual conversion, i will be starting this after the duluth trip, then i will be in search of suspension for it. basically everything i will be doing to this car will be done as cheaply as possible, hence the name of the project:biggrin: here's what i did today, a little strippage, eventually all of the sound deadener will be removed but for today i just did the stuff under the seats, and when it is all removed i am going to see how much the soundproofing weighs. removed the carpet, and eveything behind the front seats. done with todays part.
yes, this is gonna be my ice racer, i'll see if i can get this one airborne too. the floormats are just in to cover up the wiring for now.
^ yes i have been wondering that also, if the bottom holes line up which they look like the might, there's always a option of me using my tophats on the wrx suspension, not sure if it's at all possible, so if anyone knows please let me know.
^ oh yea to add to that, ryan, if u spray some PB blaster on all the residue and rub it around, it will take it all off and leave a clean finish. worked great on the trunk of my teg.
^ hey! oh what ever its true. what are you doing with the interior stuff? i bet you could get a pretty penny for that folding rear seat. this should be a very interesting ice race with two green lxs there ;-)
unless you want the damn awkward to take out folding rear set, it's gonna sit in my basement until i get the motivation to throw it away, nobody wants that ugly ass tan interior anywaysuke: and yes the ice race shall be fun although mine will be a manual by then and i believe that you will still be auto?
^ i'm gonna keep the wheels for awhile cause i like them and they will be easier to get snow out of them than steelies:biggrin:
ya these wheels are soooo much better than wrx wheels in my opinion, plus i have a couple sets of 15'' tires so i don't have to worry about tires for awhile:biggrin:
^ might makeyou feel better to know that the 15"s probabaly wont clear the rs brakes or WRX brakes, or 4 pots, ect...
got some parts today:biggrin: and my driveshaft should be here later this week and i plan on getting the clutch ordered this week too. so i should have everything rounded up by next week
they should clear, i can run oldie leggy turbo 15in wheels. 15's barely clear my brakes but they clear.
i now have all the parts i need to get started on my fun:biggrin: so today i put in the pedals and fiddled around with some piddly stuff, next week she goes under the big knife:biggrin:
started working on the manual swap tonight after work, got a fair bit done, not as much as normal since i was turning my rear rotors at the same time. but the autos pretty much ready to be dropped out, just have to wait until tomm so i have people there to help. but it should easily be done by the end of tomm, actually late morning or early afternoon if i don't run into any major problems. i should have some pics up tomm. can't wait to be shifting.
Sweet. You should fill the gaps on the tranny mount in with that black urathane windsheild adhesive gunk while its out. I've heard it works great  oops, i might be a bit late on this one
