Crosswind landings are like that. Pretty sketchy, especially if you dip your downwind wing too much and catch the wind. Better than trying to keep it straight the whole time, as once you get stable, you can keep flying sideways like that without much trouble.
my coworker showed me this video. Most of the shots are from some airport over in asia (sorry I cannot remember which country off the top of my head) which always has nasty cross-winds. Pretty sick IMO
I've been on a few of those. There's nothing you can do at that point so you just have to cowboy up and enjoy the ride.
Try this in a Cesna 152 with a 16 knot crosswind, way ugly. Big planes can handle the big crosswinds although you need to fly way ahead of the plane due to response time for corections. I failed my first flight test due to strong crosswinds at Lake Elmo airport, came down 2 feet short on the threshold. Great respect for these pilots. Mike
