I was scrolling through CL, and see that black bugeye 5 speed wrx wagon missing half the front end parts. It's been on there for months. List price $1995. No rust, motor and trans have been pulled out, needs a turbo, headlights, grill, bumper, and driver side fender. I have almost everything to piece her back together so I decided I'd like to check it out, and maybe adopt this heap of subaru dreams. Start texting back and forth with the not so eager to sell owner, asking about the condition. Motor was allegedly pulled out for "inspection", so I asked is a leakdown test had been done. "The motor is good, just needs a turbo". So thats a no? Lol. I ask of everything in the drivetrain works properly, and get no reply. Today I send them another text, wondering if I should just stop by and check it out, and they send me the address for eden imports. Hahaha ewww. I wonder if it's even worth my time....
Are you in a competition with your buddy on who can buy the riskiest worst subaru in the world?! lol You are the guy with the friend who bought that hunk of junk from Eden imports right? Did you not learn your lesson yet?
Daily driver...if you have a job you have to get to, buy a Toyota, not a beat-up Subaru that has probably been treated worse than the girlfriends of the first five owners.
He bought his from a used car lot that has a similar name to edens old name, but absolutely no affiliation with eden imports. That has been confirmed. Not saying it wasn't a risky buy, it was, but nothing he has came across yet has made me feel like it was a bad purchase. "Yet".
My search ended, and I didn't end up with the wrx rolling shell I was hoping for. I got in a pich with my pickup needing tires, brake calipers/pads and exhaust manifold gasket. Due to working 60 hours a week with 3 hours of commuting per day, and spending $30 on gas a day anyways, I just parked the truck and swooped this wonderful '95 2 door impreza for $875. She needs some love, but I will enthusiasticly give her that. I flipped her over to 170k yesterday; there is certainly many more happy miles left in her.
Agreed on that ^ Nice find OP! Good luck fixing her up, hope to see her nice and shiny in the coming months/years.
Super clean coupe! When you get in the WRX like you were planning, lmk! That sucker would make a great new home for my 3.3L. Been looking tentatively around for a clean L for a rally swap.
You've been beat to it! Lol, a buddy already called dibs if I ever sell it, but I'll put you on the list josh!
Dayum! I guess that being on the list is acceptable. lol. You know that she wants the 3.3L...she wants her precious she does!
There is a bit of typical subaru rust on the usual spots, but none of it is even made it through the paint. I really should try and get some body work done before it's a total loss, but its hard to dump money into it because of my intentions for the car.
