I have an 08 STI, this is really my first winter with it and a couple of days ago I had a real problem with the car stuttering a lot more extremely than what is normal for an 08. In this case the stutter was long enough for the RPMs to drop on the tach.

    Any ideas?

I want to get a tune, but am concerned with the number of problems people are having with their 08. I don't want to have some problem caused by the ****ty Subaru tune and then be denied warranty coverage because I had it fixed.

Get a tune. Seriously. Go to a reputable tuner and you'll be fine. My car has been tuned since 3000 miles. No regrets here. Over 50k of trouble-free driving. AND more power and tq and better mileage. There really is no downside.

Unless my motor blows from the ******* tune that Subaru put on it...

I'd love to hear from some of the Suby techs that frequent this site what their experience with the 08 is.

Ok, I talked to Bullwinkle about a tune, I figure if I am going to get a tune, I might as well get a downpipe first, so I ordered a Perrin catted DP.

Go big or go home, right? Merry x-mas to me!

Have you logged the car? Did you get a tank of questionable fuel?

92 or 93, depending on what is available. Almost always ends up being Bobby & Steve's at 35W & Washington, it's two blocks from my place.

Ive been told that the only reason they would check the ECU for something is if there was a problem with the ECU itself.

The more expensive the fix, the harder they look to get out of it has been my experience.

yeah. Im pretty apprehensive about modding my car at all at this point. I have the 5yr/100,000 gold plan. they gave it to me when my motor blew at 947 miles due to the rod bearing issue. I didnt really want it, but i guess it's nice to have
