Who's heard of the TurboXS Unichip and would anyone benefit from one today? I just started going through some of the equipment that came with my car and this was in there. Looks like they used to go for about $700+ and it looks like a nice piece, can anyone tell me anything else about it?

Nope, it is a big paper weight now. That was the very first form of Em for the wrx. Unless Ron can get into it there really isn't much you can do. It is basically a "shop" tuned add on chip. So back in the day, it was run the chip and log the car. Send the chip and the logs back to TXS and have them mod the chip to fix any problems in the logs. rinse and repeat. TXS doesn't touch them anymore (probably hasn't for 4+ years), and at best it is only a very loose stg2 chip. There was a hand fully of people who were actually running a txs stg4 system at that point. stg4 consisted of turbo, injectors, tmic/fmic, tbe and a uppipe.

That's about what I was thinking. All the info from Nasioc (or anywhere else for that matter) was dated around 02/03. Seemed like it was quite the shizzle in its time.

It was definitely the shizzle in it's time, I was friends with one of the Beta testers for TurboXS, and had the pleasure of hanging out with those guys a couple times in Maryland and at a track in Pennsylvania. They put down some good numbers with it, but were constantly upgrading it like any other tuning company.

The unichip works but if you have better options, take that route. Its a piggy back that works with old software. It doesn't even have datalog or live tuning. But the system does work. It probably doesn't have a place for subarus. Mini cooper, IS 300, Mazda Speed etc uses the system. The harness if you have it is worthless since its just for that model/car. But the box is all the same until now. You can probably sell the box to someone.
